He should make the team. Fee would like to have a new friend.
Is this guy already a member of 5 1 or are we going to have to induct him?

"Definitely, the most important thing is term and then the no-movement (clause)," Salvador said today. "I'm looking for that stability, especially after going through being traded this past season. We have a young son and maybe looking to have another child down the road and that stability is a big thing. After the term and the no-movement clause, then comes the dollars." PASS LOU! I don't want this guy. I definitely don't want this guy if we can't get rid of him without his permission. This isn't the Patty situation where the dude is our offensive leaders and a veteran of the team. This is one of 10 defensemen who really didn't leave all that positive of an impression on myself or other Devils fans in the few games he did actually play after we traded part of our heart to St. Louis. Let the Blues have him back, and give Anssi Salmela a chance on the roster. Or you know.. Sheldon Brookbank. Does anyone remember him? With 10 defensemen a few get lost in the shuffle. We can prevent this if we let this guy walk! Think of the others Lou! |

Good news for Flyers fans - Jeff Carter signed a three year deal for $15M. Sounds like just the right length for the right amount of money. Good job Homer!
Next up Randy Jones.

Aren't they adorable?! I have two dogs, and sometime within the next few months I'm hoping for another, and I want the Giants and Ranger tags for all
of them.

The Lightning are making some big moves ahead of July 1st...
Traded for the rights to Vaclav Prospal Signed Prospal to a 4 yr/$14 million contract (too long or too much $$$, IMO) Traded for the rights to Ryan Malone and Gary Roberts Signed Malone to a 7 yr/$31.5 million contract (too long, IMO) Roberts' contract is as good done Traded for the rights to Brian Rolston It's probably safe to assume he'll be signed too '08 - '09 Lightning = '07 - '08 Flyers ? |

Wow looks like they've been busy. I think Malone is a good fit for them.... but not at that contract.
Some Devil updates: Brylin is at a standstill. If neither the team nor Brylin elect to not pick up the option year [Brylin wants to play but wants a 2+yr contract] by noon tomorrow, he'll become an UFA. Lou says negotiations with Pando and the 9th defensemen who will be UFAs tomorrow are "status quo". I hope that means he's just waiting to deliver Pando's contract and is helping the 9th d-man pack his bags. |

I lack the ability to make a singular compact post this week. Came across this figured a few of you might enjoy it.
The Reebok 2008 Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game [can we get an acronym here please?] was held this weekend in TX benefitting the Mike Modano Foundation and the Little Heroes Foundation. Some Dallas located basketball players were there. the Dallas soccer team goalie was there, a Cowboy or two as well as Mike Modano and Brenden Morrow. Here's a video of Morrow playing. And here is a link to Mikey Mo. |

It's official.. well according to TSN's UFA tracker it is. Gary Roberts is a Lightning Bolt.

The Roberts deal is a win-win situation for the Lightning, in a way.
Sure they gave up a 4th round pick for his rights, but by signing him on a 1 year contract, if they're out of it by the trade deadline (unlikely), they can flip him to a contender for at worst a 3rd round pick (or more likely, a 2nd). edit: Ooops, now that Malone is signed, the 4th is now a 3rd... but whatever, it'll most likely be a wash.
