Hey JJB,
I have been at this new job/company for almost 6 months and I should preface by mentioning-
- Company has gone through 2 layoff rounds
- Many people who weren't laid off have quit, including my entire team (except manager who is in different state)
- I've been reorged to different departments about 3 times
- In my office location, I am the only person working on the technical side and most of the rest of the team are in sales/account management
Now to get to the damn story, there is one VP in general that gives me the cold shoulder. We have an open seating policy so he doesn't have an office or anything. He greets everyone in the morning except for me and I have made an effort to say Hi, good morning etc multiple times only to be ignored. Last night there was a happy hour for a colleague from another office and I am good friends with that colleague. The VP invited everyone to the happy hour except me but I showed up anyway because I'm really good friends with the visiting colleague. When we get to the bar, the VP had a tab open and got the first round for everyone except for us. This includes me and the person who the happy hour was for. He saw we used our cards to split our drinks and he said, "just so you know I'm not approving that expense." I just brushed it off but all I could think was you don't even approve my expenses.. you're not even my VP. But it was awkward for the visiting colleague who IS under said VP. Shortly a few more colleagues came into the bar and he welcomed them and told them he had a tab for them.

Anyway, we tried not to let it bother us. I was mingling with my only friend and some other people trying to make an effort. I found myself standing next to said VP again so I started to try to make small talk with him but he turned his back toward me.

TL:DR - VP socializes with his team except me. I tried to make an effort and multiple times have been ignored or had him even turn his back toward me in mid-sentence /cold. what do i do
