Refusing to get health care is an irresponsible choice that impacts others. A $500 fine and no license is a significantly more lenient consequence than being denied insurance down the road for pre-existing conditions. I understanding hating the mandate. Nothing makes my skin crawl like the concept of a government mandate. But this one is pretty necessary unless we just wanted to go to a single payer system all together . . .

Whether or not you think I live in a fantasy world, shouldn't that be my choice? And shouldn't you want me to able to make that choice?
Or, you'd end up declaring medical bankruptcy like millions of Americans and passing the cost of your care onto others.
