I asked a question using a hypothetical situation."If you treat a Pitbull badly and it's attacks, and you treat a Golden Retriever the same way and it doesn't.. I think that says something about their natural temperaments."The question is...where exactly?

I think the question is which breeds are more known for, or capable of, fatal attacks? What breeds are "known" for attacking has little to do with how much they all attack in relation to each other and much more to do with a) what gets reported to the authorities (not all attacks do) and more to the point b) publicised.I also wouldn't use fatal attacks as the major point to compare aggressive tendencies in breeds, purely because that's so dependent on phsyical capability as well as the will/aggression to do it. The nastiest individual animals I've come across both happened to be miniature poodles of all things. That's another thing which plays into what gets reported, because obviously the more minor the injury the less people bother to report them - and some dogs just by that physical capability are going to get more or less reported. My Dalmatian would only have to have given me one good bite to send me for stitches (not that she ever would because she was beautifully behaved, RIP), whereas that blasted poodle wouldn't stop around my ankles but barely did more than scratch

You're not wrong either, ownership is not the only factor in play (though I certainly think it's a major one which people too readily discount when writing off entire breeds). And no, I'm not saying that all breeds are exactly the same, just disagreeing with that particular strand of reasoning. I know what you were trying to get at and I don't disagree with it - some measure of personality is indeed hereditary, you can see that with humans too - but extrapolating out from an individual case rarely stands up whether it's dogs or whatever we're talking about. Watching one lab and one pit bull react wouldn't support any conclusions about the breed as a whole, given how many other factors are involved (one of which is indeed their treatment by an owner).

But instead of looking into the hows/whys people always jump on the whole kill the breeds bullshit.

All of this makes me even more nervous for a pet. I love the hell out of dogs. It's just such a big decision for me because of my fear of being someone who is thought of as a bad owner.
