Posts: 9301 07/04/2012 1:37 PM	My neighbor just had a squamous cell cancer spot removed from her forehead yesterday and she's going to the beach all day today. She's fair skinned with red hair and she's also a nurse so you would think she would be more cautious. The beach would be the LAST place I would go the day after having that done!

Posts: 9301 07/04/2012 2:08 PM	Well no I don't think she should stop living her life, but she seemed so upset and traumatized after finding out it was squamous cell carcinogen and having it removed. She didn't know that you still need to apply SPF even if it's overcast at the beach & she ended up with a burn because of it. If it were me, I'd probably limit my sun exposure for a bit so the removal spot can heal. But yes I know it's her life and she can do what she wants.

I guess part of me would feel like laying low from any outdoor stuf for awhile, but on the other hand, like other's have said, with proper sunprotection including sun screen, a floopy hat or even a big beach umbrella ... there is no reason why she should be afraid to still enjoy normal activities.

Well, she obviously knows what she needs to do now, so I don't see what the problem is. She can still go to the beach, just take the precautions. She isn't going to spend the rest of her life indoors. MYOB
