Your stairway lies on the whispering wind Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I just got back from seeing it and it met every expectation I could have for a Spidey film. I keep going back and forth in my mind about which I like better... On one hand I thought this movie was really well done and the people in it were so dead ON it was awesome. The original film holds a special little place in my heart though, and nothing will beat Defoe as The Green Goblin. I'm curious to see who they get to play him in the next one. So basically, I loved it... Just as much as the original, maybe a tiny bit more because I really loved how they portrayed Spidey in this one; I felt like I was literally watching my comics. I love Tobey as Spidey but compared to Garfield there's no contest who's more authentic to the character. I'm also really, really surprised the movie's not getting as much recognition as it should (at least IMO). I guess a lot of people weren't ready for a reboot after all. I just rewatched the whole Sam Raimi trilogy and still love 1 and think that 2 was the absolute best but 3 was ridiculous! And the fact that Venom made a 10 minute guest spot was a travesty. I remember when they were promoting the third one and Tobey and Kirsten seemed so bored with the whole franchise. I remember hearing Kirsten saying something along the lines like, "It's like 1, 2, another one?" I also read that all of her screams in 3 were recycled from 2. What the hell is the point of that? You're too lazy and spiteful toward the movie that made you millions you can't be bothered to belt out a few good screams? I was actually surprised when Tobey signed on for a 4th because he didn't seem into it anymore. My friend posted he thought that Emma and Andrew were too Twilight and it was awful, but I definitely felt a more comic book feel with this and don't think of it at all as "chick-flick." I also got the nod to the "great power comes great responsibility" tag. I figured Marc Webb would put his own twist on things and make it interesting.

They're not looking at it from the standpoint of a movie and just a compelling story. I feel like Spider-Man 3 was just five years ago, so it was important that Webb put his own spin on the mythology just to keep it from being a re-tread of the previous trilogy. I also agree about SM 3. It was a horrible movie and you could tell that the actors just weren't into it. Kirsten said she hated that she was constantly the damsel and she was just so sick of screaming so much. I agree that she should have been professional and done her job, but some part of me can't blame her. I definitely don't think it was a chick-flick movie at all. Spider-Man has always focused on love interests and relationships. He's a teenage boy after all.

I re-watched the Spider-man trilogy recently as well and, like I mentioned, the first one holds a special place in my heart so I will always love that film, the second one for some reason I was never really a fan of. It was good but I liked the first one much, much better. The third Spider-man... Well, lets just say I like to think that it doesn't exist. I'm still surprised by the dislike of this film! I'm reading more about it now, looking for tidbits about a sequel (which I want! I want Goblin to come in so badly and finish off the story with Gwen), and I keep seeing it. I'm shocked. Not to mention people calling it a chick-flick movie and Twilight like? Peter Parker IS a teenage boy! It's his first love! What normal teenage boy isn't constantly thinking about where to stick it? It's what teenage boys do! You'd think men would get that... Then again, most comic-book fans of Spider-man probably spent their lives growing up with the comics, so they're all middle aged by now. Maybe that's why. Fan-boys taking their beloved comic a little too seriously after so many years. Not that I can blame them necessarily because I'm kind of apart of that group, but when it comes to these films you can't take them so seriously. It's a re-telling of a billion other re-tellings of a comic. As long as it's a good film and representation of my beloved comics little details don't matter to me.

I always thought he was cute in a dorky way, but wouldn't say I was crushing on him. But now... I'm totally into his lanky ass.

Posts: 11560 07/10/2012 3:59 AM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I found him to be very dapper in The Social Network. He's got a very nerdy look to him so I'm all over that. And BTW my friend that said it was Twilight like is in his 30's. He kept rambling so I called him out saying, if it was so much like Twilight then you must've watched it and for that I have no respect for your judgement. Spider-Man is definitely one of my favorites comic wise. I'm wondering if they'll have Gwen's storyline extend into all three movies and introduce Goblin in the third. I'd like to see another go at Venom to be honest. I'm not really sure who I'd like to see as the next villian. And as previously stated how the hell are they gonna replace JK Simmons? Can he just come back and play Jonah Jameson for the next movies? I've actually been contemplating someone else that could play him and he just seems so right for it I can't compare.

I kind of feel the same way about Goblin though. In my little search for info I found an interesting article analyzing the after credit scene and I'm crossing my fingers/agreeing with it. I can't find the article now but basically it mentioned how the "man in the shadows" very well could have been Norman, and it gave little hints that could prove how and why. When I first heard the man speak my mind immediately went to The Green Goblin and I kind of squealed. But obviously it was way too vague to really tell. This is the actor though and the article I read also pointed out how similar he looks to Dafoe: That or I know someone mentioned Mysterio as well. Oh, and someone made an interesting analysis that it could have been The Vulture. Ah, theories. I'm crossing my fingers for Goblin. Not to mention, I heard Emma Stone is only signed on for 2 films (whereas everyone else is on for 3) which leads me to believe they could do her death in the next film, complete with The Green Goblin, and then leave a big finale for the third.

Garfield was hilarious and sarcastic just like spiderman should be. and it seemed like that even though he is supposed to be portrayed as a loser, garfield had a shadow of a super hero before he gets bit, sticking up for others just like him, etc. and to build upon the true feel of spiderman, they show that peter is a NERD! he builds things, he creates things right down to his spider cable! i LOVED that. and as far as the people who commented on your article? they obviously have no clue about spiderman past seeing the other 3 movies.

He'll forever be the moron walking around in underwear though. OMG, I know. I couldn't believe it was him and then he took off his shirt and I was like "oh yup that's him!" He's definitely a great actor. I kept saying during Notting Hill he acted like a lizard. I also think it's funny that Vincent D'Onofrio from Law and Order Criminal Intent is the cockroach alien in MIB. I agree with most of y'all...the movies at this point are re-hashings of a million different vision of Spider-Man. It's important to respect the mythology, but from a mainstream standpoint, they need to tell an interest story first.
