Nicole Richie, the adopted daughter of American singer Lionel Richie, became famous as a reality TV star of the show "The Simple Life" with Paris Hilton. Since 2008, she began to engage in the design of accessories and fashions. Her first fragrance is simply called Nicole, coming out on the market in Sept 2012.
The fragrance was inspired by the scents of various lotions and oils, which her mother used when Nicole was a little girl. “I have a very traditional Southern mom—you never left the house without lotion. Over her lotion went oil and perfume—she was very put together from head to toe. It wasn’t just a one-dimensional smell—there were many different layers,” explained Richie to wwd.
To create this perfume, she collaborated with Steve DeMercado of Fragrance Resources and TPR Holdings Company LLC. The composition opens with aromas of juicy blackberries and oranges from Seville, which are followed by golden amber, Moroccan rose, lily of the valley and papyrus, layered over the base of cashmere, sandalwood, sugared patchouli and vanilla absolute.
