I'd also suggest films in the public domain for some of these group watchings, as those can easily be found for free LEGALLY on YouTube, Archive.org, for $1 at Dollar Tree, etc. Just a few classics in the public domain:

I think I'll choose My Man Godfrey since I've never seen it, but it's one of Carole Lombard's most-loved films with critics and audiences. (Along with Nothing Sacred. Which, actually, I haven't seen either.) It's the first film ever to receive Oscar nominations in all four acting categories, as well as the only one to do that and not be nominated for Best Picture.

Naturally, I've no issue with downloading or streaming. Mostly cuz I'm perpetually broke. But I figured we could at least throw a few public domain goodies that can be downloaded/streamed for free legally into the mix. Also, just about any of those titles will be easily found for $1 if you have a "dollar" store (excluding Family Dollar or Dollar General, as those don't typically have the PD DVD's anymore) nearby that has a DVD section. Now those won't be stellar quality, because most are just DVD transfers of VHS copies taken from scratchy prints, but it's cheap/free. Some public domain films ARE available in good DVD editions:
-My Man Godfrey is available from the Criterion Collection, as well as a release from Fox with a bonus colorized version and an official Universal release with a digital copy
-Charade is on DVD and Blu-Ray from Criterion, as well as a standalone DVD from Universal with a digital copy and is on the flipside of the DVD of the remake The Truth About Charlie.
-A Star Is Born, A Farewell To Arms, and Nothing Sacred were just transferred from the best available elements and released to DVD and Blu-Ray by Kino, who also has DVD and Blu-Ray versions of The General.
-His Girl Friday, Royal Wedding, and The Little Princess have been available for quite a while from their respective copyright holders Columbia, Fox, and Warner Home Video.
-The Last Time I Saw Paris is available through the Warner Archive Collection DVD-on-demand service.
-I feel like The Outlaw and Little Shop Of Horrors have some decent DVD's available too.
-Of Human Bondage is hard to find a good copy. There's a "Pre-Code Hollywood" set by Roan Entertainment Group that's hard to find now that has the best copy - transferred directly from a film element, progressive, very clear and not extremely scratchy or noisy. I think Brentwood Home Video/BCI Eclipse/whatever the Hell it's called these days jacked the Roan transfer for their discs of it. I have a flipper disc from them with that film and the 1950 film of Cyrano de Bergerac with Mel Ferrer (in an Oscar-winning performance) and Of Human Bondage and it looks about the same as the caps I saw of the Roan DVD on DVDBeaver.com - not complaining, got Bette Davis' first major film success in a clear copy on DVD for $1? Hallelu!

I'll watch Some Like It Hot tomorrow myself. I haven't seen it in a very long time. I really haven't seen enough Marilyn movies.

I can suggest one for the week of July 28 - Dial M For Murder is scheduled to air on the 28th at 8 PM Central on KET, a KY PBS station. If anyone in here is in KY or picks up KET, you can watch it there. Otherwise, y'all might have to find...alternative methods. I've never seen that one either, so I'll be recording it absolutely. Love my DVD-R. I have lots of classics from VHS, TCM, KET, Fox Movie Channel, etc. thanks to my DVD-R. KET airs a movie every Saturday at 8 PM Central, so they've become a good source of classic films for me. My only issue is that our SD feed merely letterboxes the HD feed, so if it's an old movie not shot in widescreen, it's severely windowboxed. But I'll take what I can get at this point. They aired Arsenic And Old Lace tonight, so they don't just air bad copies of public domain films. Bringing Up Baby is on this coming Saturday, but since My Man Godfrey is my suggested film for next week, we can watch that much later. (Plus I have it already.)
