What's your opinion on piercing babies' ears?

She posted on Facebook about how she's so happy she did it even though her daughter screamed bloody murder, had a total meltdown, etc. Everyone commenting was like "So beautiful! Love it!" But I'm not sure I could do it

Posts: 23708 06/18/2012 2:44 PM	Way too young IMO. I personally don't like that a parent would make that decision for a small baby; however, I know there are also cultures where it's done all the time. I guess it's a personal choice.

Posts: 15769 06/18/2012 2:45 PM	I don't really mind it too much when it's girls. Ive had my ears pierced since i was a few weeks old and have never given any thought to it. When its baby boys, it irks me. My nephew is one and has had a diamond stud in his ear since he was two months old. Ugh. That is definitely a choice she shouldve let him make when he's is of appropriate age.

Posts: 8826 06/18/2012 2:49 PM	I don't like the look of it on little babies at all. I was like 5 when I had mine pierced and I personally think that's a good age to get them done. I wanted it and I knew that it would hurt for a second so I was prepared. Little babies have no clue what's going on so it's very sad for them to be screaming like that for vanity.

Posts: 21146 06/18/2012 3:06 PM	I had mine peirced at 3 months old but then apparently I would take them out and put them in my mouth so my mom took them out. I got them redone when I was like 5 though. I'd probably wait and let my daughter ask first before I did anything.

Posts: 62132 06/18/2012 3:18 PM Best Photo Scoop '09	I think babies with little studs are cute, but I do agree that I would wait till she was older and let her make the decision. My friend's daughter really wanted earrings at 8, and I think that is a perfect age. I had mine done in my twenties and hurt like hell wish my mom had done it for me when I was much younger. Somehow when you're older everything hurts alot more.
