Rules and regulations are in place for a reason and if we cant give passes on those due to circumstance, regardless of how unfair it seems. I would think that logical people could sit down in a room and hammer out some kind of legislation that wouldnt create an unnecessary barrier to gaining citizenship but still require it get done in a timely manner. When I look at how American citizens are treated in other countries for even the smallest infraction, Im up for stating that we are far too lenient with non citizens committing any kind of crime and knowing that you were brought here as a child illegally and never trying to rectify that as an adult is a crime. Im not stating that its not at all unfortunate but laws are laws. And seriously, the immense disrespect that has been shown toward the office of the President since he took office has been unbelievable.

I've heard a lot of stories where kids don't even know that they are illegal until they try to apply for college/jobs/financial aid. By that point it's pretty much impossible to become legalized without risking deportation to a country where they know next to no one or don't even speak the language.

I forgot to answer this part in those other countries Americans are being encouraged to commit illegal acts with the lure of jobs and a better life for their children? America and it's policies are partly to blame for this problem and now people want to act like they had nothing to do with it. That the illegals came here with no one looking or hiring them?

No one forced them to come here, they made that decision. They were encouraged to come here so what, just because someone encourages you to do something doesn't mean you have to do it. It's called actions, meet consequences. You came here illegally and you get deported? Too bad, so sad. The children are not at fault, so this I agree with except the part where only have to had been here for 5yrs. It should be minimum of 10yrs.
