Can you watch them and see which houses they return to, and then speak with the parents tomorrow morning? I mean it shouldn't be your responsiblity to watch out for someone else's kid....but this is just SO dangerous. Maybe you could go one one of those sex-offender websites and print out a list of the local sex offenders to bring to your neighbors. That could scare them into keeping an eye on their kids!! lol Then again... the total lack of parenting by these people makes me think nothing you or the Management say will make a difference. They obviously just don't care.

It's really too dark out there for me to watch and see where they return to, and I can't leave my home to go out there because of my own kids (my youngest has autism, can't be left unattended).I'm gonna make some phone calls tomorrow for sure. There are lights outside in the parking lot, but none of them work right now, evidently.

Get the cops involved and let them find out where the kids live....maybe they'll at least give you the apartment numbers after the fact? You've been a saint with all this though....I would have gone out there and yelled I had a gun or something. Maybe you need to play up the crazy lady act to keep them from near your place? Good luck, Julie! I hope you get some kind of reprieve soon. And you're welcome for the previous comment. Just by how you sound, you're a great mother that I'd love to hang out with and emulate.

I had asked them nicely, firmly, etc... no change. I had no idea who they belonged to, so I couldn't exactly talk to their parents. finally, I had enough when they killed my brand new plants. I walked outside, and told them that if they came onto my property again (pointed out where it begins and ends), touch my things, or are being loud and disturbing neighbors after 10pm, I was going to call the police (I would have actually called our community's security officer, but they didn't know the difference). it scared them enough to cut it out.

They were screaming for nearly 4 hours before I finally asked them to stop. I'm really not that lady. I am actually the most patient person with children I know. That's why I asked how old they were. If they were like 5-10, fine they shouldn't be out around 10 but like a 13 year old? It's what kids do I guess. It's annoying sure, but not much you can do. Guess that's why you were just venting. i still don't agree with this whole "kids will be kids" viewpoint. all kids do not act this way, nor is it acceptable at any age to be screaming at the top of your lungs outside people's homes at night. it's not just about whether or not they should be out. it's more about their behavior while they're out, imo. if they're not disturbing people, then i doubt julie would care that they're out playing.

(You would need to check your lease and google rental laws for Ohio to know if it's okay for you to withhold rent.) Good luck with this and update us!

JulieAnne20 wrote:Yeah, the noise does bother my son quite a bit. He has major sensory issues. For example, if I try to go through the drive-thru bank teller and he hears the sound of the machine running, he'll start screaming. The same with the sound of the vent in the bathroom. He gets major sensory overload. He seems to have trouble with the noise especially when they run and scream right behind our apartment, because his room is on the back side of the building. If I check on him in his room, he will be on his hands and knees in his bed, rocking back and forth (he does that to kind of try and self-calm when he feels out of sorts like that). My older son has Asperger's, which is on the spectrum as well. His sensory issues aren't nearly as severe, though. Thanks for the info and ideas, Miss Sugarbaker! I appreciate it very much.
