The majority of my friends have read/are reading them though and seem to be enjoying them for the most part. They're all in their 20s/early 30s and most of them are in relationships and a few are newlyweds so I'm pretty positive not getting laid isn't an issue for them It's probably just a easy/trashy/fun read. I'll get to them eventually.

It was just uncomfortable to read because of how pathetic the girl is. He's super abusive towards her (mentally and emotionally) and she begs for more like an obsessed teenager.

The writing is terrible and reads like fan fiction, really really bad fan fiction (I know that is what it is). I could not get past the "Oh my..." and "Holy cow!" statements that happened every 4 sentences. The sex was far too much. I'm seriously questioning how they can make this into a movie without it being porn. I keep hearing people say that they love the "romance" between the characters but I felt like the characters had NO personality at all. I couldn't give two shits about them to be honest. To summarize the book sucked donkey balls, something that is probably actually in the 2nd or 3rd book.

I just find it odd some people are falling all over themselves about how sexy and scandalous this book is; I don't get it. In this day and age, I can't imagine it being seen as that scandalous and sexy to have people flipping out so much. The storyline intrigues me though. That may just be because I love anything with rich ass people. It's also based in Seattle and I pretty much flock to anything based in Seattle. So win win. But yes, much like Twilight, the writing is horrid.

I imagine the smut is probably pretty lame but I really hope it's somewhat better than the twilight books. I cringe when I read them.

I was scrolling through a thread downloading pretty much all of the books that were available and this trilogy was among them, it took no more than 10 seconds to click the links. I honestly don't even care though, I have no shame I probably would have sought them out at some point, if nothing else then just to see what all the hype is about. I just mentioned not paying for them because I would never spend money on books that I just might read at some point.

I quickly discovered it wasn't that erotic and wasn't well written but it was still an easy read. Did I enjoy them for what they were? Yes. I knew I wasn't reading a masterpiece but it helped pass the time when I was bored. My friend also described it well by saying it was like a train wreck, you can't look away, which is exactly how I feel about Twilight itself. So if you want to judge me for that, so be it.

She's been married for 13 years and has an awesome, hot firefighter husband, so she's definitely not wanting for sex. But I did side-eye her when she talked about how "hot" the sex in the book is. It isn't. I've read crappy fan fic hotter than this. That said, I'm about 100 pages into the second book, all I see are Twilight parallels, and I wonder why Stephenie Meyer hasn't sued, for real.
