Posts: 5519 05/15/2012 3:38 PM You're next	Wow, I'm kind of surprised. I haven't paid much attention but I thought he was one of the very few Idol people actually doing well. They need to end Idol, when you've had so many seasons and very little winner staying power it's time to admit you're just a pathetic game show.

Posts: 22006 05/15/2012 3:41 PM	I don't think they care if they are "just a pathetic game show" if they are raking in millions upon millions upon millions per show. Big misconception everyone seems to have. Money comes from ratings and endorsements/ads. Not the winner selling cds.

I think we all know it's not the album sales that makes the profit..But the purpose of the show is suppose to be about finding a star (although we all know it's about money). So if you can't find a star with longevity who is more than just a short hype, then the show is pretty worthless in that aspect. But in the end we all know it's about AI making money so it'll continue as long as people are watching.

Posts: 5519 05/15/2012 4:05 PM You're next	I think we all know it's not the album sales that makes the profit..But the purpose of the show is suppose to be about finding a star (although we all know it's about money). So if you can't find a star with longevity who is more than just a short hype, then the show is pretty worthless in that aspect. But in the end we all know it's about AI making money so it'll continue as long as people are watching. Yeah, she said it better than I did. I used to love Idol until around the time of Taylor Hicks when I realized that it was all just a game and that when it came to supporting the newly signed artists that some of them got attention and others didn't, and as the years went by almost none of the "winners" actually won out at all, they were later dropped or ignored if they didn't explode. When you really look back at all the winners and what happened to them after Idol it kind of kills the love for the show because all the voting you do and all the love you invest in these singers is really for nothing because once they "win" you almost never see them again. I stopped watching it a few years ago for that reason, I think Lee was my last season, because it's all a big show and then a huge letdown for the actual artists. I just don't want to support a show that doesn't support the people they hyped up and just moves on every season to build people up and then crush their dreams after filming ends. I've just lost so much respect for the show, and the process, it's not what it started out as at all.

Posts: 16026 05/15/2012 4:08 PM	I can't take American Idol serious since Adam Lambert's season. He was such a good performer. Everyone else after that season just seemed like karoake singers. This show is such a joke at this point.

But David seems positive this is best for him and it's not like he was dropped before his contract was up (his second album fufilled it) He has a fan base and his single "The Last Song I'll Write For You" is doing okay on the ITunes chart for a self release

Some of them may not be huge names like Kelly or Carrie but that doesn't mean they aren't successful in what they are doing. Sure they aren't huge megastars but a lot of artists with amazing talent aren't. It is a shame but that is just how things work.

Posts: 777 05/15/2012 9:13 PM	David Cook is amazing and a very sweet guy. I don't think this will hurt him at all. He's very talented and has a strong backing of fans. It's not like people need record deals anymore to do anything. He moved to Nashville a few months ago and knows lots of people. He will be just fine without RCA. I can't wait to see what he does next.
