Hair Stylists -- Need help please!

Posts: 2271 05/05/2012 8:57 PM	Today I colored my hair with L'oreal Healthy Look that washes out in 28 shampoos. Well, the color I chose is too dark and I don't like it! Can I color over it with another "washes out in 28 shampoos" product in a lighter shade or am I stuck with this color for a month?

Posts: 8028 05/05/2012 9:04 PM	Generally lighter colors won't cover darker unless you bleach or strip the color, but I've never tried that brand =/

Posts: 2271 05/05/2012 9:10 PM	Oh crap. I was afraid of that. Thanks, though. I'll let it wash out and hope the next 28 days goes by quickly. I am not going to strip or bleach my hair. I just wish I could wash it 2x a day for 14 days but I'll bet that would trash my hair. Ugh!!!

Posts: 778 05/05/2012 9:11 PM	You chose a semi -permanent color which has no 'lift' meaning you will only get a darker color or a different "undertone" to your hair. Only permanent color can lighten your hair. If you use another semi-color you are adding color on top of color and it will only become even darker. Try adding some highlights or you can try washing your hair with a clarifying shampoo to speed the fading process

Posts: 471 05/05/2012 9:12 PM	Get a strong shampoo (or a clarifying shampoo) and shampoo a few times til it gets rid of some of the color. You can try and dye with a lighter color, but it's unpredictable in that when you're trying to lighten a dark color dye, it may turn your hair into an awkward colored mess. What's the color before and the color you want to do after? General rule is to do demi-permanent if you're going darker, and a permanent if you're going lighter.
