But if you need the motivation of group setting than maybe it would be good for you. Ive looked it up, I think they dont count veggies towards your points but that may be the old way.

Posts: 31666 04/30/2012 8:39 PM	I did weight watchers last year and lost 20 lbs. I have kept the weight off because weight watchers helped me figure out portion sizes and things like that. I'm not officially on it and paying for it, but I've continued with the concept which is how I've managed to keep the weight off successfully. I love the basically unlimited veggies and fruits. I also loved the online recipes. I even put my own recipes in to figure out points for things I was already making. I wasn't eating badly but I didn't have a handle on portion size. I bought a scale for the kitchen counter and still use that also.

I'm not a fan of groups and I don't like WW's adherence to BMI. I track my calories on Sparkpeople and weigh/measure my food when applicable. Most people overestimate what a portion is and weighing/measuring helps with that. Basically eat for nutrition & weight loss. Exercise for fitness. Building muscle will also help burn extra calories. If you're on plan and haven't lost any weight for a significant period of time, then it's time to consult a doctor. There may be something else going on.

Posts: 1634 04/30/2012 9:33 PM	I really liked WW. I used to just count calories/work out, but something about counting points and going to meetings really accelerated things. It was exciting to lose weight and celebrate it with people who understood. I lost about 40 lbs. That said, I've gained back 20 lbs (no fault of WW. I'm in/at school all day and eat like crap) and I'm not really a fan of the new WW. I pay for the online portion but I'm just kinda "meh". Edit to add, I'm not really someone who is okay with people knowing my weight and keeping me accountable. But having one person see my weight each week completely motivated me instead of scaring me. I know quite a few people who were scared to do the meetings but lost a lot of weight when they started to go. The actual meeting is kinda cheesy IMO, but some people learn a bit. Posts: 8356 04/30/2012 9:50 PM	I have. It works. I really enjoy it because it takes into account things like fiber, protein, and carbs rather than just calorie counting. It not only helps me eat less, but healthier. It is also very doable because you can still eat everything you like, just less of it.

I lost 16 pounds in 4 weeks with no exercise at all. I stopped for awhile I've been eating like I used to and I haven't gained a pound, but I haven't lost either. I'm starting again.

I too got tired of keeping track of the points for every single thing that I ate. A lot of times, I planned what I was going to eat the night before I go to bed just so I wouldn't have to worry about tracking it when I got home.

I have a random schedule so squeezing in meetings isn't really for me. Plus my best friend said he would just stand in the background singing Jennifer Hudson songs so that's my motivation

Posts: 15257 05/01/2012 2:35 AM	I'm currently on it and I enjoy it b/c it keeps my accountable and I have the free apps on my phone so I can track when I need to. If I know what I'm going to eat for the rest of the day I'll put it in that morning. They also have another app that scans barcodes and lets you know what the points are. It's made me more aware of what I'm eating, especially when I eat out. And I've also lowered my weekly allowance points as I don't need 49 extra points a week so I took it down to 1/2 of those and that has helped a lot. I check to see if the restaurant has nutritional values on their website and calculate it or go to Dottie's Weight Loss Zone (DWLZ) which has a ton of restaurants listed with their values and point value. I just haven't put in my weight b/c I know I've gained b/c I haven't been tracking or kind of gave up but now that I'm going to the gym I'm doing a lot better of keeping track. I also like their magazine they have, but I am starting to get sick and tired of seeing Jennifer Hudson everywhere regarding Weight Watchers.

I like it a lot better than Myfitnesspal. I lost over 80lbs a few years ago on my own and last year I gained a lot back because I've been eating really bad. I couldn't get motivated again so I joined weight watchers and it really helped.

Posts: 2212 05/01/2012 10:22 AM	I started WW online 2 weeks ago and I have lost 4 pounds. That might not seem like a big deal but it's a big deal to me because I really want to lose the weight slow and be healthy. I've lost weight super fast before by crash dieting and it teaches me absolutely nothing. And i have sufered from an earing disorder in the past. With WW I really feel like it is teaching me how to eat so I don't have a love/hate relationship with food. These past 2 weeks I really have been feeling in control and at ease with food ( something I could never say before). I plan to stay on it for 12 weeks and hopefully lose about 25 pounds.
