Jessica Simpson: Still Pregnant & Nine Days Overdue

Posts: 481 04/30/2012 1:59 PM	There are risks involved, it's not just about the baby's lung development. Well, my daughter is 12 now so she obviously had no complications. And it also depends on your dr. Mine knew my daughter would be fine 10 days early, but my sister n laws dr who made her wait almost 2 weeks ended up having a completely horrible birth because my nephew was so big. And she didn't have a c section. There is no reason to make a woman go over that long. THAT can also be dangerous.

I didn't want to go 2 weeks past my due date, but I would have never scheduled an induction if there wasn't a strong medical reason for it. That said, several of my friends have had scheduled inductions and have given birth relatively easily without causing any problems for their children. It just wasn't a risk I was comfortable taking.

But you said you don't see how induction could possibly be dangerous, and it does have risks.

Posts: 5906 04/30/2012 3:29 PM	There are problems with Inducing but there are problems if you don't induce . My sister had to be induced with both her kids because she had low blood pressure, which was not good.. She also had really bad headaches.

My last resort (which I put off because it did NOT sound appetizing) was my Drs.' suggestion of a special "cocktail". Castor oil, crushed ice & orange juice blended together. That shit tasted so nasty --- but desperate times called for desperate measures. And damn if it didn't work. I went into labor about an hour after I drank it, and 4 hrs later my son (all 8 lbs 9 oz of him) was born. That may not sound big, but I'm not all that large myself so his birth size was plenty enough for my hoohah.

My doc said the same but with cranberry juice and all I ended up with was 5lbs of bodily waste- no baby

I believe everything has been rumors, like the rumor that she is really due at the end of May but because the baby is so big, the doctor's were going to schedule a c-secton for April 20. I think when April 20 came and there was no announcement, that's when Jessica went to her Twitter to say, don't believe the rumors. So I think the OP link is just going off the rumor that her due day was April 20 and now she's 9 days overdue.

It's a pretty accepted thought that induction, and especially c-section, rates in the U.S. are way too high. Doctors like to schedule c-sections especially because then they're not called out of bed at 2 a.m. when you go into labor. In a normal, healthy pregnancy, going a bit over isn't a big deal. If it goes on too long there is risk of placental deterioration and fetal death. But I would hope all doctors would closely monitor their overdue patients for any signs of this so that they could intervene. But in a lot of cases there is a medical issue that warrants induction. I was induced with Noah due to being diabetic (the placenta tends to deteriorate earlier than in a non-diabetic pregnancy so you'd be hard pressed to find a doctor that will even let you go to your due date, much less over it) and would have been with Allie if she hadn't come a month early on her own.

The media and their "sources" are the one saying one thing after another. She herself said relatively little of her pregnancy like the sex of baby, her eating habits and how she feels.
