Demetrius Hewlin, a junior, died today at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
"We are very saddened by the loss of our son and others in our Chardon community," his family said in a statement released by the hospital. "Demetrius was a happy young man who loved life and his family and friends. We will miss him very much but we are proud that he will be able to help others through organ donation. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."
Demetrius was one of three students taken by helicopter to MetroHealth following the shooting. Russell King Jr., 17, was pronounced brain dead late Monday and died early this morning. Daniel Parmertor, 16, died Monday.
Two other students are recovering at Hillcrest Hospital.
The suspect, T.J. Lane, is in custody and will appear at a 3:30 p.m. detention hearing in Geauga County Juvenile Court. Witnesses said Lane walked up to a table in the cafeteria and began firing about 7:30 a.m. Monday.http://www.cleveland.com/chardon-shooting/index.ssf/2012/02/third_student_dies_after_shoot.html

"He chose them randomly," Joyce said.
Lane fired 10 shots in the cafeteria with a .22-caliber handgun, Joyce said. He told authorities that he did not know his victims, officials said. However, one student who was grazed by one of the bullets said on Monday he knew Lane in middle school. And several of those shot rode a bus with Lane each day and were listed as friends on his Facebook page.
Joyce said at a news conference after the court hearing that Lane was someone who was "not well" and the incident did not involve bullying or drugs.
Lane, 17, was accompanied by two aunts and his grandfather in court. He appeared with his attorney Robert Farinacci. He said "Yes, I do," when asked by Judge Timothy Grendell if he knew he had the right to remain silent.
Daniel Parmertor, 16, Russell King Jr., 17, and Demetrius Hewlin, 16, died at MetroHealth Medical Center. The three juniors were sitting together at a table when T.J. walked up behind them at 7:30 a.m. Monday and started shooting, witnesses said. He was apprehended by police at 8:37 a.m. after he ran out of the school and through the woods, Joyce said.
Daniel died hours after he was shot. Russell was pronounced dead early today and Demetrius, 16, died a few hours later. All three had been transported to the hospital by helicopter.
Joy Rickers, 18, a senior, and Nick Walczak, 17, a junior, were also shot by T.J. and were taken to Hillcrest Hospital. Joy has been released, officials said.
A state highway patrol car led a Geauga County Sheriff's car with T.J. in the backseat into an alleyway behind the county's Courthouse Annex on the square in Chardon around 2:30 this afternoon.
A host of deputies and troopers hustled the young man through a steel door and up a few flights of stairs as a host of journalists tried to snap photos or video of the arrival. He was wearing a bullet-proof vest and handcuffs.
Deputies had walked a police dog through the area about half an hour before the officers arrived with Lane.
The hearing was to determine whether Lane would stay in custody pending charges Neither Joyce or Farinacci objected to lane remaining in the Portage-Geauga Juvenile Detention Center in Ravenna.
Joyce has until 4:45 p.m. Thursday to file charges and in expectation of those Grendell scheduled an initial hearing on the charges for March 6. He also said he expected a request to try Lane as an adult so scheduled a probable cause hearing for bindover on March 19.
Joyce said in the news conference that he wants Lane tried as an adult and expects to file three counts of aggravated murder and other counts related to the incident.
Joyce and law enforcement officials said would not answer questions about the case at the news conference. Tapes of 911 calls made to the Geauga County Sheriff's Department were released and four 911 calls made to the Chardon Police Department can be heard at chardon.cc.911.
The media was ordered not to photograph or film the faces of Lane or his relatives and Joyce and Farinacci were ordered not to comment on the case. Joyce was allowed to make statements at a press conference scheduled for this afternoon.
Grendell also scheduled a hearing for tomorrow on the request by the media to see any juvenile records that may be related to Lane, his family and one of the victims.

Nick was shot several times in "noncritical areas," according to his uncle David Walczak. He said his nephew underwent surgery at Hillcrest Hospital and is doing well. "Nick is a wonderful kid, a happy kid who has a heart of gold," said Walczak, a Chardon High graduate who now lives near Allentown, Pa. "By the grace of God, he's going to be OK."
