Knowing that her spontaneous engagement ring debut would be documented in a photo that would live on forever, Angelina Jolie made sure to wear a timeless outfit when she, her new fiance Brad Pitt and their son Pax paid a visit to LACMA's Chinese galleries Wednesday.
At the museum, the 36-year-old looked polished in a L'agence ivory tie-neck blouse (which retails for $400) paired with black wide-leg trousers and black heels.
The casual but chic outfit complemented Jolie's waif figure, but at the same time made sure to not take away from her show-stopping bauble.
Jolie's engagement ring boasts a 7-carat center emerald-cut diamond with another 9 carats of tapering emerald-cut diamonds around the band. The 16-carat ring has an estimated price tag of $500,000!
The diamonds are "of the finest quality, which was then transformed using Pitt's unique designs, cut with distinctive faceting to a shape and size that perfectly suits Angelina's long, slender fingers," the couple's longtime jeweler Robert Procop explained.

Angelina Jolie heads into the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Monday (April 16) in Hollywood.
The 36-year-old actress stepped out for the first time since confirming her engagement to longtime partner Brad Pitt.
Angelina debuted the engagement ring, which Brad designed, last week while visiting the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
“Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specialty cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality,” a rep for jeweler Robert Procop told JustJared.com.

(Reuters) - Film star Angelina Jolie will use her powerful box office fame to draw attention to some of the world's worst humanitarian disasters, the U.N. refugee agency UNHCR said on Tuesday.
Jolie, who has already served more than 10 years as goodwill ambassador for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), is taking on a new role as special envoy for large-scale crises that cause huge numbers of civilians to flee their homelands.
She is expected to concentrate on complex emergencies and protracted refugee crises including Afghanistan and Somalia which have driven millions of people into neighboring countries, the UNHCR said.
"UNHCR is pleased to announce today that Angelina Jolie will take on a new and expanded role for the U.N. refugee agency as Special Envoy of High Commissioner Antonio Guterres," UNHCR spokesman Adrian Edwards told a news briefing in Geneva.
Jolie was due to be named Special Representative on the Afghan refugee crisis last October, but there has been no final agreement.
"In her new role, she is expected to focus on large-scale crises resulting in the mass displacement of people, to undertake advocacy and represent UNHCR and Mr. Guterres at the diplomatic level," Edwards added.
Jolie has already made 40 field visits to hotspots in 20 countries on behalf of the agency, including Pakistan, Haiti, Iraq, Syria and Chad. She has donated at least $5 million for its life-saving operations, Edwards said.
"This is an exceptional position reflecting an exceptional role she has played for us," he said.

For Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the path to holy matrimony may start right outside their front door.
Their front door in the village of Brignol in the Var in the south of France, that is.
Not only does their 1,000-acre spread have room for a wedding of any conscionable size, but there's a chapel on the grounds—and it's no stranger to weddings!
Tom Bove, who owned Chateau Miraval from 1992 to 2011 (Jolie and Pitt started leasing the property in 2008 before buying it from him) and now lives about 30 minutes away and continues to distribute the wine produced at their vineyard, painted an exclusive picture for E! News of what the A-listers' nuptials could look like.
Let's just say, it sounds like a perfect place to put an aisle...
"It is 2 kilometers from the road to the home and then another 2 kilometers to the other end of the property," he describes the property. "So it's very remote and beautiful. And it has a very special smell—when you are there the air is filled with the smell of winter jasmine, thyme and rosemary."
But though the Jolie-Pitt family could probably host the Oscars, Emmys and Grammys all at once on their estate, only a select few will be privy to their vow swap if they choose to do it in the on-site chapel.
Bove, whose son got married there, says the intimate French-gothic-style chapel—dating back to the 1200s and rebuilt in 1880—only has standing room for about 20 people. (Fun fact: As tends to be the protocol with Americans getting married in foreign countries, Bove's son had a civil service in the U.S. to make things legal, then a religious ceremony at Chateau Miraval.)
"The grounds have actually improved since [Jolie and Pitt] took it over," Bove says. "They have thinned some of the forest and renovated parts of it. Miraval has 20 sets of terraces in the grounds, each one is half a mile long, they are huge and date back to Roman times, and Brad has started rebuilding them. The property is being very well-looked-after. It's a big place and takes a lot of energy, and I am happy it has been passed to people who are going to keep it in good repair."
And, what do you know, sales of the wine produced by Miraval's vineyard have gone up too.
"One of the wines they have is called Pink Floyd," Bove says. "I named it after the band because they recorded The Wall in the recording studio at Miraval. For a music award in Sweden, I was asked to write a letter to the band to celebrate the 30th anniversary for the recording and I decided to name the rosé wine after them."
One question: Does Roger Waters play weddings?

The American couple arrived at Baltra’s airport yesterday with their children and bodyguards. The itinerary includes a tour inside the Islands on board of the Queen Silvia yacht; it is considered the luxurious one in Galápagos.
The actors will lodge in the Royal Palm hotel located in Santa Cruz Island, the same hotel where the Carlos Prince of England and his wife Camila Parker lodged while visiting the Islands in 2009.
