Supernatural: Season 7 Spoilers!

I wish I understood what everyone is talking about.

I've mentioned it before so I'm going to be redundant a moment and say I never really followed a show until last year when I started watching SPN. So the politics behind time slots, "lead ins" and days goes right over my head. It sounds like their time on Wednesday is going to be a bad thing for them?

I can't say I'm surprised if it is though. CW probably wants the show to end.

Like how Smallville would air before Supernatural (or any show before it). That's a lead-in. A show you watch to, hopefully, get you to watch the one that follows it. I can't explain it in actual network speak because I don't know how to. lol. But a show's time slot is important as to how many people are going to be watching. This was a much bigger issue before the DVR of course. But I also have confusion about the whole Neilsen thing. (viewing a show live and how they track them)

I'm worried about Wednesday now, seeing what shows are airing at the same time. I'm lucky because my DVR can record 5 shows at once, so I rarely run into a recording conflict. (although I have) And I watch SPN live when I can. But, we've been down this road before. It's been up against LOST I believe, and it's been against Grey's Anatomy before and we're still going so... I don't want to be TOO worried. We're a loyal fan base.

The normal practice for networks is to put new shows behind veteran shows, which is how you can entice viewers to watch the new show and not to change the channel. That makes it a lead-in. Example, NBC used "The Voice" as "Smash's" lead-in show because it had proven to be a ratings magnet, and it worked. The same can be said for ABC's "Castle" airing behind "Dancing With The Stars," which gets about 18 million viewers at some point during the season. That's why we're confused by The CW choosing a new show to be "Supernatural's" leading because it should be the other way around.

Networks also used their strongest shows to battle other popular shows on other networks. They're essentially competing for the most viewers, so the CW is betting that "Supernatural" will give them their best ratings against huge shows like "Modern Family," "X-Factor" and "The Mentalist."

It's also a huge gamble to change the day a show airs. You can do it with more popular shows "The Good Wife, Revenge, etc" because fans are dedicated enough to follow it, but it can be the kiss of death for other shows. I'm more worried about Supernatural's competition, even though fans are incredibly dedicated. If, after all this, they don't get heavy promo for next season, I'm going to riot.

Wouldn't premiering in October reduce the length/number of hiatuses during the season though? Granted, if The CW reduces the number of shows per season for each series (i.e. less than 22) then it'll just suck all around.

I read somewhere that Supernatural can't be a lead in because of the content so it has to air after 9pm? Don't know how true that is but to me it makes a little bit of sense.

I'm not surprised by that Sera said it was going to be a huge cliffhanger!

Jensen's shoe game has always been better than Jared's. Jared's look like Marc Anthony shoes we sell at work.

Uriel is in a new show by ABC called Nashville staring Connie Britton (fav ever), Hayden Panettierre, Jonathan Jackson (Lucky on GH) and a few other people. I don't know if it's a tv movie or a tv series but I'm down.
