D.I.S.H.
Massive horror novel to the big screen
The list of Stephen King novels that have been adapted for the big screen is long. Now it's about to get even longer – with the longest novel King has ever written.
Warner Bros. and CBS Films have announced plans to team up to produce The Stand, King's 1978 opus about an American apocalypse.
Suits at the two production companies will spend the next few weeks meeting with writers and directors to find the right team for the job of translating the massive 1,153 page novel to the screen.
CBS has held the rights to adapt the book for years but knew they need a partner for a project so huge. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Warners out bid Fox and Sony to team with CBS on the flick.
One of the biggest selling books of all time, The Stand tells the story of a terrible plague that kills half of the American population, leaving the other half to fight it out amongst themselves.
Numerous attempts have been made over the years to bring The Stand to the big screen, but those attempts all fizzled. Now The Stand joins Ron Howard's upcoming adaptation of King's Dark Tower series as two of the biggest projects in Hollywood.
