Because...a LOT of people touch people and the OP wasn't some random person and the customer didn't put some random item on her. I don't know the specifics of her job but it sounds at least something like working at a skincare or makeup counter where the sales associate will apply skincare or makeup items to the customer. (Again, NOT saying that's what the OP does but in that same vein.) It's more annoying and uncalled for when the random kiosk employee comes up to the random shopper and does that. Customer vs. sales associate: it's certainly not assault. It's not like she rubbed it in. And it's really not a good idea to work so closely with items you are so violently allergic to. I wonder how the replies would have read if this same situation had been posted but without the allergy and from the customer's perspective and if the customer/JJBer had said "and the SA freaked out about it." (not that the OP freaked out in front of her, just wondering if viewpoints would change.)

It is weird that the customer did that as a reaction! It's happened to me before where I was trying some lotion thing as a sample in Sephora. There was too much so I said, "oh, do you have a napkin?" A napkin. It would not have crossed my mind to wipe it on a human being. lol That's gross!

SFNYYFan wrote: OMG what is wrong with people here? Who gives a shit if she knew about the allergy or not? Who does that?! You have to tell a stranger your medical history in case they're going to wipe something on you?! And yes, we all do thing we wish we wouldn't have done but I've even come close to wiping topical creams on a damn stranger. I don't know which is worse...this thread or the surprise baby shower thread. Same idiot in both though.
