Clearly, your parents don't agree with you, either, if they're throwing their friends a party for your wedding occasion. People who want to cut down their budgets to the extent you're advising, should just go to City Hall. If you're going to invite people and expect them to show up, you have to provide something. I don't go to weddings for the dinner, but I'm also not going to show up for a 20 minute ceremony and then go home. It makes no sense. It's a celebration, so there should be some sort of celebrating going on and I don't mean soda and snack vending machines.

It's the union of two people in love with each other. There will be plenty of celebrating at my wedding. At my reception, there will be dancing. There will be speeches. There will be a wedding cake. There will be specific ceremonies. If you want to get drunk or have a nice meal, go to a restaurant after the reception. My wedding will be at 2 p.m., so there is time for that.
