I find it pretty odd that this is the impression you have of NYU. I'm assuming you came up with this based on movies? But, no, people from all different backgrounds go there. Sure, you'll find the group of rich kids, but many others go on scholarships and such. I think the rich kids with summer homes in the Hamptons would go to Ivy league schools like Columbia or Princeton.
