Can you tell me about it?
Like, how much was brought up to the person? How detailed did you get about past events? What we're going to be doing isn't so much an intervention as just telling my in-laws how we feel about their addictions, pointing out all the things we believe to be true, even though we might've taken a "smile and nod" attitude about their excuses in the past and telling them that we need space from them. But I just don't even really know what all to say. I want to make my feelings known but I don't want to give them too many opportunities to make excuses or cry or whatever.
Also, we're really wanting to completely cut them out (we hold no hope that they'll really change) but I don't know whether we should flat out tell them that or, like I said, just approach it as a needing some space thing.
