Yeah, sure, she had someones car but come on. Lets all take a second to place ourselves in her shoes. Well the OP did say this lady owes $100 from last November that she never repaid for some other incident. That's what made me suspicious of her on top of not calling at all the entire day WHAT? Noone even knows if that's even true. The OP isn't involved in that and is hearing things second hand. Not to mention, how do you know they don't have a deal worked out or haven't discussed it amongst themselves while going to and from work together daily? I don't see how that can make someone 'suspicious' or shady. Then again I never understand people on JJB at times.

I must say that I find most of things in this situation understandable.
The assistant shouldn't have given her the keys if it would cause her that much trouble (or for the matter, keep giving rides and then whining about the situation behind her back), but I understand that caught by surprise, you just want to help.
The other woman should have called, but I understand that if her husband was having an emergency surgery, one serious enough to leave him unconscious for so many hours, she wasn't in her right mind.
Now, a woman preferring to stay hours late at work, crying, over going home and telling her husband that she let someone she knows and sees everyday use her car in a emergency situation, that I don't understand

Dean Winchester is my soul mate!
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'd be pissed as hell if it were my car too.
