This debate is going on in San Diego now, but I am sure it has happened many other places.
The center of the argument is that while the current stadium that the Chargers play in is decent, they don't have enough luxury boxes and other amenities that they can sell to companies and rich people. And the NFL thinks that encouraging a new stadium and having the request the refused will give them an excuse to move the Chargers to Los Angeles.
Now there are all these people willing to put up with new taxes and such because they figure San Diego will die without an NFL team. I love the Chargers, but I can't afford to buy tickets. And I certainly couldn't if they got a new stadium and were able to charge even more.
I can't believe so many cities (like Dallas and Houston) allow themselves to be fucked up the ass in order to keep football and other sports teams. Would you support it?
