I don't know what we're going to do. We are NOT moving into another rental/apartment for a few months, then moving all of our shit out to the new house.
The house we are renting, is being sold.

Not really sure what we're going to do. Our new house is a piece of crap right now, and not liveable. We had planned on moving into that, sometime this
coming spring (May-ish). Lastnight, somebody came to look at the house we are currently living in, and apparently decided he wants to buy it. My landlord
(who is also my boss) had told me all along, that he can't sell the house until his mother passes away, because if he were to sell it before then, the
nursing home would get all of the money. Even lastnight, when he told me the guy was coming to look at our house, he said that the prospective buyer won't
move in until next summer, so it would "work out good" for us as far as timing goes..... we'd be in our new house by then anyhow. But now, all
of the sudden it's changed to this kid buying it an moving in by January 1st.
I don't know what we're going to do. We are NOT moving into another rental/apartment for a few months, then moving all of our shit out to the new house. |

Did he make that deal with you in writing though? Otherwise sounds like you are screwed unless the new owner would agree to rent to you until you are ready to
move. It's worth a try.

No, we don't have a written lease or anything.
In no way do I think we're entitled to stay in the house, or think it's unfair that he's selling it. I just think it's a little weird how he had always told us that if he ever sold the house prior to his mom passing, the money would go to the nursing home where she is living (so, he didn't ever really want to sell it) The house isn't on the market or listed with a realtor, no for sale sign in the yard, etc. Even more weird is the fact that my boss hasn't told me any of this...it's come second hand from co-workers. Apparently he was at work today, telling people that this kid is buying the house, and we have to be out by January 1st. And.... last night (that's for Tommy)

So why would the money go to the nursing home? Is he not paying them?

ugh rabies ---- Something about the nursing home having a lien on the house (???) They must not have had nursing home insurance when his mom was placed there.
IDK. I don't know how all of that stuff works. He's got two sisters too, so I really have no idea what they pay the nursing home, or if they pay them,
or what the deal is. Not really any of my business, I guess.
I guess we're just a little furstrated here. Even lastnight, when he told me this kid was coming to look at the house, he said "He won't move in until next summer, so that will work out good for you guys. You'll be moved out by then." He never mentioned anything about anybody moving in on January 1st. I could talk to the prospective buyer, and see if he'd be willing to rent to us for a couple more months, which would buy us a little time. But, that seems doubtful....he wants to get in here and do some rewiring, and start with some renovations (which are good winter projects...) |

The person that's buying it is a really young guy. I think he's like 21. Maybe I should say "young man"

That sucks, I'm sorry
Maybe you could move into a smaller place, and take only the essentials with you, and put the rest in storage? That way you don't have to go through the hassle of unpacking everything, only to repack come spring time. |

I would wait until your landlord actually speaks to you about this before freaking out or contacting the buyer. For all you know it's not even true he
wants to move in this early!

summeris4u --- That would be an option...I just don't know how many rentals there are in this town. We live in a VERY small town. In addition, we have two
large dogs and three cats.
luusmeitli --- Well, it came from my dad. My boss told my dad all of this (as well as the prospective buyer's dad). |

Just frustrated, I guess. I'm wondering how long my boss is going to wait, before he tells us the news. I would think he would have called or stopped over
today sometime to fill us in, but nothing.
And my boyfriend is all, "We can live in the house we just bought!" Well...that house is in a state of destruction right now. No flooring, no kitchen cabinets, holes in the walls and floors where ductwork is supposed to go, shitty and broken windows, a bathroom that looks as though you'd need a tatanus shot before enterting, etc. |

I was asking about the "last night" thing. But I think you should just ask your boss about it if you've already heard about it.
