21 and a WakeUp is now playing in select Chicagoland theaters.
I received the below email this evening...
Dear Friend:
According to our reservation lists, you and a friend attended a promotional screening of our very emotional Vietnam Film "21 and a Wakeup" this summer; this moving film opens in Chicago this weekend for a very limited run.
As you know from having seen it, more than 90% of the audiences who remember the Vietnam era love this film, and I trust you'll urge your friends to see it this weekend.
It is the first American War film ever shot on location in Vietnam.
I'm enclosing links both to our own website as well as a link to the Danica McKellar interview on WLS Chicago ABC 7, broadcast when she was in town for the World Premiere.
As you'll recall, the film stars Danica, Amy Acker, Tom Sizemore, JC Chasez, Faye Dunaway, Wes Studi, Ed Begley Jr, and Ben Vereen, and follows the lives of three nurses over 96 harrowing hours at the last Army hospital in Vietnam.
Called "The best portrayal of women at war ever put on film," this sexy, profane, heartbreaking movie debuts in an exclusive limited run at ten theatres across Chicago.
Anyone who was alive during the Vietnam War must see this emotional picture, with an ending you will literally never forget; changing the way you remember Vietnam forever.
Several critics have noted that parts of the film don't seem real to them, because they don't look like the Vietnam they've come to know through suspect enterprises like "Apocalypse Now," shot in the Philippines.
There's no question the war that 20% of our soldiers experienced consisted of horrifying slogs through bloody rice paddies and monsoon-driven hellholes.
But 80% of our equally valiant soldiers and nurses served on large bases like Long Binh, Cam Ranh Bay and Da Nang, experiencing a different kind of war, yet with service often every bit as brave as those on the DMZ.
This is their story; it has seldom been told before, and deserves to be.
I hope you and your friends will take the time to support his film, and the Nurses, Doctors and Soldiers it honors.
As always, every Vietnam Vet may email us from our website for two free admission passes.
Thank You,
The Producers
