ARNOLD: "M&M Man" kidnapped from gas station
Suspect steals life-sized candy dispenser after failed negotiation
| Police are on the lookout for the "M&M Man" who was kidnapped from an Arnold gas station. |
A life-sized, candy-dispensing "M&M Man" was stolen from an Arnold gas station July 31.
Police say the theft occurred after a failed attempt by the suspect to negotiate the purchase of the M&M Man.
"He offered to buy the M&M Man and was turned down," said Lt. Nick McBroom of the Arnold police.
The suspect, a white male with a red goatee wearing a Cardinals baseball cap, then exited the store with two females, after buying beer.
The prospect of owning the M&M Man pulled him back.

"He returned to the store by himself, grabbed the M&M Man, dumped out the candy and ran out the door," McBroom said.
The "victim" was last seen wearing white gloves, white shoes and a yellow-coated shell.
Police say the three exited the scene in a red Honda four-door car.
Police are examining video of the incident, though the vehicle's license plate is obscured.
Arnold Detective Melissa Crane said the M&M Man is valued at roughly $300.
"We've checked E-bay and there are a couple on there but not the one we're looking for," she said.
