Your parents, McKenna, along with most other people who oppose a nationalized healthcare plan, know/think they're rich enough to afford the best healthcare money can buy, so it doesn't affect them. The issue is that the rest of us -- the POOR PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY WILLING TO ADMIT THEY'RE POOR -- are still fucking screwed. If we could just get all the faux-riche 30K millionaires to issue themselves a reality check, there wouldn't even be an argument here.

People won't pay a $120 premium for healthcare, but have no problem paying that much for a gym membership. Some stroll into county hospital ER's all the damn time with non-emergency situations because the ER is their primary care physician. These are the same people who leave that county hospital in Hummers and BMW's and have never even heard of what Medicaid is. Where are the priorities? I don't think poor people are necessarily screwed. You can walk into a county facility and still be treated. Then you can ignore the medical bills that follow, and let others pick up the tab with their taxes and premium increases. If you ask me, it's the law abiding tax paying middle class that gets screwed.

I believe with all of this that even after the taxes are increased that the average middle-class American will be paying the same amount (or even less) than what they're paying right now for premiums and co-pays. The system that we have right now is broken and it does need a complete overhaul in order to make it fair and effective and COST-effective for everybody.

And the group that paid the most in Social Security...yet they won't receive much of it. Not everything is so black and white. It was the corporations that destroyed our country. Though, I agree, the baby boomers had a hand in it, but not entirely. As for the comment about that generation being the most self entitled...wrong, that's the current generation. The one that most of us are in. Today's generation is too busy yapping on cell phones and worrying about me, me, me, to care about anything important.

I've always thought of the baby boomers as a hard working group and without them today's generation would not be able to live the life of luxury and overindulgence. If you want to point the finger at them, then blame them for enabling today's generation to become privileged, selfish, and spoiled rotten.
