Also, once you bought them, did you think the netbook was worth buying?

I'm looking to buy one of the new netbooks. It gets to be a pain lugging around my laptop to work/school, so I'm looking for something smaller. I saw
some at Staples and Best Buy, but I'm not certain. Anyone have one? And if so, which one do you think is the best buy? Also, where is a good place to
buy them? I'm wanting to make sure that I get a good computer for the money. Opinions are appreciated!

We just got one for my Mom for her BD, I'm actually on it right now. It's an MSI, which I had never heard of before, but it had all of the
qualifications we wanted, for the best price.
It's got a 10.1" screen, the keys are a good size (they are basically as big as they can be for a computer of this size), 1GB RAM, 160GB HD (which is huge for a netbook), 3USB ports, memory card port, webcam/mic. That is basically what we were looking for. It was $300, we got it at a store called Brandsmart but I don't think those are everywhere. I dunno how much it weighs exactly, but it is super light. |

10" eee PC, Best Buy, $300ish. I have one as do my dad and father-in-law (both professors who take it to school). Great battery life. Watch the size of
the keyboard - I knew I couldn't handle one that was a little smaller.

Both of those sites are good and will get you something cheap. And look for a brand you know.. the unknown brands I'm always staying away from.. I'd stick around HP, Toshiba, Samsung, etc. No Acer or Asus. Yeah, they look great for a greatprice, but you'll be paying for it in a year. Lemme see if I can find some good prices on some netbooks. |

I saw that one when I was looking, the price was compareable to the MSI, but the keyboard was wayyyy too small.

Also, I'm assuming that this is only for word processing/internet? No gaming? No graphics?

I love, love, LOVE my Asus eeePC. Yeah, its not a big name brand, but consumer reports originally rated it above most of the other brands. I looked just
now, and the Samsung one is rated higher, but is about $100 more expensive. For that price, I'd buy an actual laptop. They also seem to like the Acer
Aspire, which was one I looked at too. But I had to wait to get that one, and well, I don't wait well
The bigger nambed brands reviewed just don't have the battery life this one does. I can user it for 5+ hours without charging it. I will agree that the speakers suck big time. But I don't listen to much on it, so I'm not all that concerned. I have the 10' one because I'm using it mostly to type some of my action research paper on. I couldn't imagine a smaller keyboard. I tried them out in bestbuy and it was just bad. I personally wouldn't go smaller than a 10 inch one. And if you do, just be aware that its a SMALL keyboard. Yeah it;ll fit in a medium sized purse, but I make enough typos as it is, no need for my fingers to be crashing into each other unnecessarily. I bought mine at bestbuy, and got the extended warenty thingy and paid $370. One of my best purchases ever. I really, really, really, love it. I'm sitting in starbucks now using it If I was okay to wait, I probably would have ordered one online. But again, once I made up my minde there was to be no
waiting
