I agree that it's never too late to be a fan. I'm betting Michael wouldn't care who became a fan of his after he died, just as long as they
actually like the music.

Sometimes it takes major events to get people to notice what's right in front of their face. You may have been alive when he was making music but you were
really young.
Do you like his music or do you just feel like you're missing out on something? |

that's the thing! aside from (parts) of his singles I've never really listened to his music. I don't even think I've heard Thriller all the way
through. I suck.

I have nothing to add, because Alicia has said everything that I feel.

Well you've got decades worth of music waiting to be discovered. Download his albums and watch his videos. I naturally suggest you start with Smooth
Criminal. In fact I have it right here.

is it bad that the first time I heard Smooth Criminal, it was Alien Ant Farm's cover?

Smooth Criminal was my favorite Michael video. I know a lot of people think Thriller was his best, and don't get me wrong, Thriller was brilliant. However,
Smooth Criminal was my absolute favorite.

Yes, because I hate that dudes voice. But it does show you how MJ crossed the lines between genres to have a rock group want to cover his music.

I like "Smooth Criminal" better than "Thriller" as well. Both are fantastic, but there are some sick moves in SC.

I like the moonwalker version better than the shortened version. My favorite video is Beat It, because its the first thing of MJ I ever saw and its also my
favorite song too. KNIFE FIGHT FTW!

There are so many parts in Smooth Criminal that would give me chills. I love when he starts descending from the balcony on those stairs, the dance breaks, the
lean, and I love the part when they cut back from the little kid dancing. That slow walk thing they do where they lift one leg back and forth.

I agree with everything Alicia has said in this post. I feel the same way about his music and his death. I can't ever hope to find another musician in my
lifetime who's music has touched me the way his did and does.

This thread is wonderful. I think a lot of people are discovering just how magnificent and significant Michael's contribution to music is. I think the
surface has only been scratched.
I've been watching a LOT of live performances over the last couple of days and I can conclusively say that Michael is the BEST live entertainer ever. He mastered the art of being completely in the moment and the transfer of energy from performer to crowd and vice versa. He is the physical embodiment of music. You watch him and you can see his soul. It's extraordinary. I watch this "Remember the Time" performance and I can not get over the fact he's sitting in a chair the entire time but he's murdering this performance. I just have to laugh because it's ridiculous how GREAT he is. |

Anyone have the clip of the concert where he popped out from under the stage and stood there for over 2 minutes while people lost their minds? He didn't
even move and they went nuts.
It's not the Superbowl one....they showed it a lot in montages and one of the people being interviewed about him mentioned it....I've been looking for it but can't find it anywhere. |
