I would spend the day and early part of the night bbqing and lighting off fireworks with the fam (aunts, uncles, cousins too) and then go out with friends
after. This year I am spending it with friends only.

Both. I have a few invitations and I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, but my parents are having a cookout.

Since when is July 4th a family-type holiday? I thought that was only Thanksgiving and Easter?

It's a time for me to continue being Canadian.
But for Canada day, I usually see my family. |

Family. It's my grandmother's birthday, so we get together to celebrate her.
