The Jackson family has just released a statement via their newly acquired reps, saying there will be no public service for
Michael Jackson at Neverland.
"Contrary to previous news reports, the Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland.
Plans are underway regarding a public memorial for Michael Jackson, and we will announce those plans shortly."

Oh people, too much confusion and too many sources.
I saw on our news tonight the italian MJ fanclub saying they were about to leave to go to Neverland, I imagine other fans around the world are doing it too amd it might be too late to stop them... This is gonna become a mess. |

Having a public memorial does not mean a public viewing. They can have a public memorial service without the body.

It would've been a complete disaster.. however, I would like some kind of televised memorial of him.. I'm in Finland so there's really no place to
go honor him or anything, so I'd at least like to see something of that nature.

A memorial would be a lot better.

I am sure those that show up will be met with a great powerpoint on how AWESOME his dads new record label will be. But honestly SO much California money has
been spent on this crap, its gotten annoying and quickly.

Why wouldn't anyone make sure it was confirmed the Memorial was taking place on Friday? Some news outlets said so, or tabloids?

Yeah, I don't know why people automatically thought this was true. There was never a statement from the family stating this was taking place, just media
reports and we all know how reliable those are.
I think until the family actually states what's going on, no should believe shit as far as arrangements go. |

Why didn't The Jacksons put an end to the rumor as soon as it started? Hotels were all booked up hours after the so called announcement.

I agree. They must have known (or their reps heard about it as soon as it was being reported). They should have put an end to it as soon as it started.

That's very true. But they're grieving and I'm not going to question them about arrangements they're trying to make. They probably should have
said sooner since people bought plane tickets and got hotel rooms. But it is quite possible though that it's something they wanted to do and it didn't
pan out.

I'm sure the family was discussing what to do. This was probably an option so the media got wind and ran with it even though the family hadn't
decided. I feel bad for anyone who booked a flight and hotel. That's messed up the media did that. Don't blame the family, they have enough to deal
with.

hear hear. don't blame the family - it is not their fault that the media is spreading rumours. when the funeral arrangements are finalised they will
announce it. we should wait until then.

So it's the family's fault that people were dumb enough to jump the gun on something that was never officially confirmed?
