I am doing everything in my power to stop. I have gone three weeks with only two set backs.

Me! I was an extreme nail biter. I don't know how I stopped, I just did. My nail looked really gross.

Mine was mainly will power. I'd catch myself nibbling and instead nibble on sunflower seed kernels. Weird yes, but it kept me busy.

I was a bad nail biter and then I just decided I was sick of having nasty looking nails and wanted to grow them out, so I stopped. Now I have this thing where
I grow them out and keep them pretty for a while, and then they get too long and I get annoyed with keeping them looking nice, so I'll chew them all short
and start all over again.

Mine are painted. Is this strange, but when my nails start to "reattach" to the nail bed, it hurts so bad that I usually peel them off. it just hurts

I haven't fully quit yet. Really, nail-biting isn't my problem anymore. I tear my nails now.

I was gonna say keep your nails painted too. I kept mine perfect and I didn't want to ruin them, before I knew it...I didn't want to bite them anymore.

I bit my nails from the time I was 4 until I was 24. I tried stopping like 2 times, but 'relapsed'. I just went cold turkey about a year ago and
haven't bit them since. I keep my nails manicured so I won't bite them.

what about fake nails? get them cut down low enough so they aren't in the way but it would definatly stop you i would think.

It's been over a year and a half. I don't really know why I stopped about 23 years, I just did. Prior to that, I tried everything to stop...
I'd chew right through dipping my nails in nail polish remover, that's how bad I was.
I don't know how or why, but I did. My nails are pretty brittle after so many years of chewing the hell out of them. I get acrylics about three times a year now because of it. I know it's not good for my nails, but they look so much better than what I have. |

I bit my nails for as long as I could remember, but once I finished high school, I stop without even trying.

I bit my nails my entire life. I just stopped one day because I wanted to be able to paint them and make them look nice.

I bit my nails for 22 years. I am 2 years 'sober'. I stopped cause I was just so embarrassed of anyone seeing my hands. Nail polish helps a lot. I also
carry nail clippers and a nail file everywhere, because if I break a nail or anything, I know I am going to bite it.

I never bit them but I always had a bad habit of picking/peeling them. One day a year ago or so I decided I was just sick of short, gross nails and have had
nice longer ones ever since.

I was a shocking nail biter as a kid. I used to bite them til they bled and they were always so painful. The first time I stopped by sheer willpower. I kept
them long for years after that but had a relapse. The second time I got acrylics. I learned to do them myself and kept them looking really natural. There's
no way you can bite acrylics!
I now have natural nails again. I tend to bite the skin around them when I relapse instead of the actual nail but have managed to keep that under control. I won't go anywhere without a nail file and I have them planted all over the house. The only thing that starts me off now is finding an 'edge' I have to rip it off if I do, therefore nail files are my saviour...
