I know this topic has been discussed previously, but this really pissed me off, and made me understand why it is so hurtful to other people as well.
I was in Germany, out for a walk with my BF and his grandfather. We were literally in the middle of nowhere, walking though some wheat fields when we run into a few other people who were walking. My BFs grandfather seemed to know them so they talked for a few minutes. My BF had a slightly strange reaction to the convo, and since I only understand a bit of German I asked him to translate what had happened. Apparently his grandfather had mentioned that we were heading home for some lunch, when this other guy (who is a complete stranger to me/my BF) says "Oh, well it looks like she needs some food" and them commented that I"m too thin. WTF?? I'm within a healthy weight range, and even if I wasn't - since when is it acceptable to comment on someone's weight like that? Meanwhile I"m standing their like a complete idiot smiling away, and telling them how nice it was to meet them in German, etc.
I know it sounds super dumb - but it almost made me feel vulnerable or something. ESPECIALLY with the language difference where people are talking about me in another language, and I wont find out what they are saying unless someone translates it.
