Not appropriate. I mean, a 5 minute convo with your SO is fine but anything more than that is obnoxious.

I hate it when people go on and on. If I know they're going to be quick (less than a minute) with not much info, I'll talk at my desk. Otherwise, I
walk outside.

if it's just something quick, making an appointment, checking in on a spouse or child or something like that i don't mind. if you're planning your
wedding or remodeling your house and are calling planners and contractors for hours upon end then you need to do it on your time (yes i work with a girl who
has done both).

Did it all the time when I worked for T-Mobile and the mall was dead.

What the fuck do you care if you're not jeopardizing business?

If you work around other people it's rude if it's more than a couple minutes.

It can be quite annoying when you share an office with someone who is constantly making and getting personal phone calls and those phone calls are not 2 minute
calls. There have been ones that have lasted well over an hour.
And then of course once they're done, you get to hear all about it, like you didn't just hear all about it when they were on the phone. That's even more annoying. If I'm making an appointment I'll sit in my office. Otherwise I get up out of my chair and go outside and use my cell phone. Not only is it common courtesy, I can't stand people being nosey trying to pay attention to my convos and I get interrupted just working, I can't even imagine trying to do a phone conversation with people constantly coming in and butting in. |

I NEVER take personal calls at my desk. I'm a very private person and really don't need 7 other people to overhear what I'm saying. Instead I go
out in the hallway. I'm the only one who doesn't take their calls at their desk though.
