I want to get a small dog when I move into my apartment in August or September.

Dachshunds are great. She's small but she's a great little guard dog. If she hears anybody near the door she starts barking her head off. I love it

Do you have a long hair or a short hair dachshund?

I had a beagle for 5 years in an apartment. She was perfect.

Long-haired. She sheds like crazy unfortunately. I have to vaccuum almost every other day.

Solo Mish wrote:I love her! But honestly the chances of me finding a Yorkie/Corgi mix to adopt are slim to none... I'm probably just going to end up at the pound picking the fluffiest thing I can find that won't go nuts in an apartment. Does she require a lot of grooming Becca? Beyond the brushing. Like do you have to get her cut a lot? |

My roommates brought home a Dachshund randomly one day and it was miserable in our apartment. It was super high energy and was bouncing off of the walls. My
roommate kept it in her room during the day and it would cry constantly because it was desperate to escape.

My mom calls her "The Tornado" because she's always running everywhere when she's at their house.
But she's not like that at home with me. She is usually asleep on the bed or goes into her kennel so she's not bugged. When she was a puppy she was high energy, but even then when I told to chill out, she usually did. |

I've been reading up on dogs lately and it sounds like she knows you're the boss, but she thinks SHE is the boss when she's at your mom's
house.
Dana my friend had dachshunds growing up and they were pretty low-key. Maybe you just got a rambunctious one. |

Of course! I don't know whether I'll go to the pound or this rescue place here in
Omaha. I almost want to get a dog that's a little older so I don't have to housetrain it myself.

too bad you want a small dog - Greyhounds make great apartment/townhome dogs.

What are nice, small dogs that are 25 pounds or less? See I think of small dogs as nasty little fuckers who go to the bathroom in the house to spite you, and
bite a lot. But when I move out I don't think I'll be able to have a dog like over 25 or 30 pounds, by rule. So I'm just looking into it because I
cannot live without a dog lol. But I don't want some nasty little bitch who bites and is hard to train.
