Anthony, I'm responding to cheegal's response that Justin isn't even black so therefore shouldn't be allowed to perform on the BET Awards.

I just don't get some people on here. I think Justin is one of the prime examples of Michael's influence today, I personally think that he should be
there because after all this is about honoring MJ. Those who say he shouldn't be there because he's white and this is the BET awards need to go
somewhere with that shit.People also need to leave the whole Janet shit go too.

I'm not reading this whole thread, but is Justin confirmed to be there? I have a hard time believing he'll actually try to put a performance together
for something he wasn't attending in the first place. So is all this fuckery based on the possibility that he MIGHT pay tribute to someone he admires? If
you hate him that much, turn the channel IF he appears. Damn.

And another fucking thing...
As recently as 2006 Michael Jackson said that he was inspired by what Usher and Justin are doing in music today. So if Michael himself was a fan of Justin's, isn't it only right that he be there to pay respect to him? By all account Michael liked Justin a lot so regardless of anyone else's personal opinion, shouldn't the opinion of the man being honored take higher precedent? |

Bottom line is, JT like or not weirdos is one of the biggest pop icons of the last ten years, he's obviously very influenced by MJ as are many of the pop artists of the past and the ones cropping up right now. JT has been a part of many songs, videos and other things shown on BET as a collaborator or in his own rite. If anything he is not only extremely qualified to be part of the tribute having performed with him twice, but was INVITED to do so. If you have a problem, go make yourself a sandwich during his segment. Oh and on the race card, I guess Elvis should never have sang "Black Music" then either, and eminem shouldn't be a huge rap star, Tiger shouldn't play golf and Obama shouldn't be president. SIT DOWN. |

Well, I don't care that Justin is white, I do have his first album afterall, but it's because it's him. I haven't gotten a genuine,
positive feeling from Justin for a while and considering it is BET, I'd rather not have him there. Like I said, if you threw Christina on the stage and she
broke down Earth Song, I'd fall out! Guaranteed. I don't like Justin with the way I see him with Black people at this point, of course I expect
he'll pop up in a tribute at some point and if he does well I'll say it. I also don't think he can carry an MJ tune vocally, at least I think that
would distract me.
Everything else, I'm just really irritated and quite sensitive to certain things right now, given Michael's treatment by the general media. There are a lot of things that don't sit right with me right now and I don't think many people on JJB would understand. |
