I think it would be great if MTV played MJ videos all weekend long... there are performances they could put in rotation too. I'm sure they will want to play that "American Dream" movie.
I don't think there's any other celeb's death they would

cover in detail (I should say in quantity) like this. Even Madonna, I don't see them talking so much about it on all channels. I mean it's good for
MJ. Of course they would discuss in detail about Obama if anything happened to him.

I think Madonna would be about the same. They kind of stand out to me as the male and female counterpart of an entire tradition of music. It is amazing to me
to see just how much influence both of them had even in artists coming out today.

I think it depends on the circumstances. If Madonna died suddenly, then yeah maybe. But still, Michael was a world wide figure. Madonna is too but the hysteria
isn't there like it was for him 20 years ago across the globe. I really think there's no bigger figure.

There was a TON of coverage when Diana died. I remember watching all the coverage for days.

I think for coverage like this it has to be a person who has been around for years, everyone knows and defines a generation. Michael's death to me is like
the death of Elvis Presley to my mother. There would be coverage for Britney and whatnot, but not like this. This kind of coverage is rare. Michael Jackson is
the biggest music artist in the world. Argue all you want, but he was and is the biggest thing out there. This is different.
One of the people just interviewed on CNN made mention that anyone in their 30s sees Michael Jackson as a part of their childhood. I definitely do. From the posters on my bedroom wall to the knowledge that he forever changed music. |

I agree he changed music forever etc. But I didn't grow up with him and I'm not necessarily taking it has hard as others do. I'm sad he passed away, and in shock but it's not hitting me like it would if someone like JT passed away. Someone I grew up listening to and know better than him. |

I think it depends on the circumstances of the death. I feel like Anna Nicole's death clogged the airwaves like this for a few days after her death?
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

She's 11 years younger and listened to the music but he's just sort of another musician to her. I'm stunned/shocked. I was out with a friend earlier and she was too. |
