Saw My Sister's Keeper --- book is way better (Spoiler) |

It's still definitely a tearjerker but a lot got changed in the film and they weren't minor changes either. The two BIG ones are: they removed the
character of the temp guardian for Anna and they totally changed the ending; Kate still dies, instead of Anna (I believe that's not how it was in the
book...correct me if I'm wrong...it's been awhile since I read it.)

Anna dies in the book. They said they changed the end and everyone was pissed cause jodi was really unhappy about it. I think having Kate die sucks but
whatever

I think the whole POINT was that you can plan for stuff and prepare yourself for something and liffe can still throw you a curveball.
The family treasured each moment with Kate (sometimes at the expense of paying attention to the other kids) and ultimately it was Anna whom they lost. |

Ugh. Why did they do that!? The movie would be so much better and shocking if they kept the ending of the book in tact. Now it's just another predictable
movie.

I think that completely does a disservice to Jodi's book both in content and in format. One of the reasons why it is so compelling and heartbreaking in the
book for Anna to die is that structurally, the novel is told from everyone's point of view except Kate. For Kate to be the ending narrative that we hear
after her sister's death and the fact that she lives on is very poignant.
Now it's just another cancer movie and that sucks. |

Abigail plays Anna and the newcomer girl plays Kate (the one with cancer.

WHAT?? OMG I'm so disappointed. Anna has to die. That's the way it should have been. Now I don't know if I want to see it. Fuckers.

Good, the ending of the book is like the biggest copout in the history of literature.

I don't think the actual ending was a copout...if anything it was a copout to have it happen in like, the last 10 pages and only 2 of those pages at that.

[quote]given the fact that Picoult seemed like she actually didn't want to make a choice/stance about the moral and ethical issues in her book[/quote}
She never takes a stance in any of her books. The endings ALWAYS magically somehow work out so everyone is satisfied. I hate her. |

How stupid to change the ending. But I guess that's the risk you take when you sell the rights to your book and characters.

Just got back from the movie and I really liked it (Never read the book) my biggest issue was the damned soundtrack. It was so overberring and a lot of it
really not good!

The movie is excellent. I totally cried throughout the entire movie.
Everyone in the cast did a really nice job.

I cried through like 50% of the movie. It was actually not as bad as I was anticipating. But I hated the change they made to the ending. And why did they
totally leave out the whole plotline involving Jesse/arson?

And got rid of her guardian.
