The majority of artists releasing material aren't getting any profit from it because not many people are even interested in the music that's out there.
No interest = no money. You can't bank in the music industry anymore. If that wasn't the case, I highly doubt the RIAA would even be pursuing a case
like this.

It seems like her lawyer took a gamble and figured that a "jury of her peers" would never convict her or come up with such a crazy penalty amount.
I guess he gambled wrong. I can't see how any lawyer with sense would advise their client to go to trial in a case like this unless they had some really
solid proof that she wasn't sharing the files.
