I search, it didnt come up. This is sad news for me. I know how most feel about T.R but I dunno I wish he would stay.

T.R. Knight's former Grey's Anatomy costar Melissa George confirms he's leaving the show.

"Yes, he is," George told Us when asked at last night's Whitney Contemporaries Art Party and Auction in NYC.

Yesterday, a source told Us that Knight was released from his contract this week. The source added that show creator Shonda Rimes had until June 30 to decide Knight's fate, but the actor went directly to the network to ask to be released early.

"He's had enough of Shonda and ABC," the source said. "He decided to take back his powers."

George is proud of Knight, who played George O'Malley on the medical drama. (On the season finale, he appeared to have died after being hit by a bus.)

"He's one of my best friends," she tells Us. "I feel great for him."

"Oh, everything. He's had a good week. I'm not saying anything," she teases.

Entertainment Weekly -- which also reported the news of his departure -- says the actor is in talks to headline the Broadway revival of Lend Me a Tenor in 2010.

George hints: "We just went to see two Broadway shows in the last two days. That's something great, you know? For him."

As for Katherine Heigl's fate, she admits: "I don't know yet."

Heigl, who plays Izzie Stevens, went unconscious after having surgery to treat her brain cancer in the last moments of the season finale. James Pickens Jr (Chief Richard Webber) told Us in February that she was leaving the show as well.

Although most Grey's Anatomy fans are anxiously awaiting the fates of T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl next season, one cast member is nervous about her own.

Chandra Wilson, who plays Dr. Bailey on the hit ABC show, is still waiting to re-sign her contract to come back next season.

"You know, I don't have the slightest idea!" she said on The View Thursday when asked if she knew who was leaving the show. "I know nothing!"

In fact, she lamented that she still hasn't received word on whether she'll be back on the show.

"I'm waiting for my Disney letter saying, 'You have the option to come back,'" she said.

The company has until June 20 to send it, she added.

He had said he wanted out.. But Shonda had to agree to let him out of his contract.

I'm really sad about this. George was one of the best parts of that show. I'm sorry he was treated so poorly. But good for T.R..

...tha hell is this fuckery?!?!? After Mer/Der/Cristina/Owen, it should have been Bailey being set for next season. I will cut up if Chandra, for whatever ever ignorant reason, is not back on the show. I need Shonda to get it together because this is just..................unacceptable!

Lol, Chandra is just playing coy, of course she'll be back next season. She's on contract until season 7 and I think all the orginal cast has the same contract). Getting the disney letter is basically a formality, and i think she talked about that to divert the attention from Katherine & TR.

I'm not surprised about TR leaving, he was treated really horribly this season. I rather see KH go, I cant stand her diva way or her character.

It's the end of what made the show good, the 5 interns relationship together.

Sucks that this is all because of backstage problems. Shonda Rhimes is the one ABC should have made write him better last season and give him a story. They dropped it and let her blacklist him. She's still around badly running the show and the main characters are dropping like flies not wanting to work with her anymore.

Tyne Daly even said that they are antsy to go. Then what? This show will be about Callie and her girlfriend and Lexie?

Me too, sounds like he already has another job according to that article. It would be good slap to ABC if CBS picked him up for something.

I feel like that Chandra comment happened like a month ago. I definitely heard her say it somewhere and she was laughing about it in the first place.

Okay yeah, she wasn't even on The View today.

LOS ANGELES - Dr. George O'Malley is checking out of "Grey's Anatomy" but Dr. Izzie Stevens is likely to remain on staff.

A person with knowledge of contract negotiations with T.R. Knight, who plays George on the ABC drama, said Thursday the actor is leaving the show. The person, who wasn't authorized to discuss the negotiations publicly, asked not to be identified.

But the person said that negotiations with Katherine Heigl (HY'-guhl) were more successful and she's expected to return as Izzie.

The season finale in May left the fate of George and Izzie unclear, with both characters at death's door - or possibly beyond it.

A publicist for Knight declined comment. Heigl's representative did not immediately respond to an e-mail request for comment.
