Last week Wednesday I was assaulted, there were no serious injuries though. Today I got in touch with the investigator for the case. She had been trying to
contact me but had the completely wrong number (she told me that the person who assaulted me gave them that number!) and stopped by the house but no one was
home. She was very upset and I told her I understood that she had other cases and didn't have time to chase me. So she proceed to get nasty with me and
tells me she isn't going to baby me, I should have went to the police station the day after the incident and why did I wait so long etc etc. I told her
that the police told me that they would file the report and for me to WAIT 24-48 for an investigator to contact me. I told her this a thousand times. The
police told me to wait for an investigator to call me so I could continue with pressing charges process. (Saturday, I went down there to check on things but
she wasn't there. So someone gave me her number and told me that she would be working Tuesday. ) She had already spoken with the family member that
assaulted me that night that they were being held. I can only imagine all the lies and whoa me acts this person probably put on...so I can't completely
blame the investigator for coming at me with such a horrible attitude. But something that I thought was out of line, is when she mentioned my depression and
asked me if I were on anti-depressants. Before this she mentioned that this person claims to be afraid of me. This conversation didn't take place at her
desk it was in public area. It caught me off-guard, so I just told her yes I do suffer from depression and yes I was on medicine but not anymore... She told me
that she doesn't understand why I'm pressing charges when my family seems to have a history of problems in the household, according to the person who
assaulted me, and the problem will be solved if I move out? I don't like the way she treated me but I'm wondering if I'm being sensitive. I am very
upset and emotional right now. And she still didn't take my statement but I gave my correct contact information. I'm going to call her tomorrow
although I'm afraid. I'm really confused.

Um...if you were a victim of assault, she should NOT be treating you like a criminal! I would call the station and ask for a different investigator to handle
your case. That's beyond inappropriate.

Can I do that?
When I went up there Saturday to check on the status of the police report, I spoke with an investigator and he was about to take my statement until he realized it was assigned to her. He gave me his card and told me to contact him if I had any questions. I was thinking about calling him but I don't want to cause anymore trouble. I'm already in over my head. |

I would definitely call him and explain the situation. She was probably assigned, but I'm sure they could reassign you if you're uncomfortable with the
woman. Honestly, she should probably be written up or something-she was acting as if you were the assaulter, not the assaultee. They should be doing everything
they can to help you, not questioning your medical history!

Who would I talk to, to get the case reassigned? Do I just ask her if she could pass the case to someone else ?

Ok, I'm going to call him tomorrow and ask if I could meet with him. Hopefully he is as nice as he was this past weekend. Thanks for the advice megababe.
