 I've been telling her I didn't want them since I was like 10
years old. I'm 23 now and things haven't changed. But the older I get and the older she gets (she's 60), she keeps running off at the mouth about
her future grandchildren. Good thing I have an older brother. I think he wants kids but she hasn't been pressuring him as much as she's been pressuring
me.

I think most women are talked into thinking they have to have kids. Otherwise, I think more of them would be like me.

My mom never talks about grandkids but I want 4 kids so she is getting them.

I think it's strange (I'm not calling you weird, I just can't grasp it), when people don't want kids. Like that's it? You just want your
legacy to end when you die? You don't want anything to go on after you? I just think it would be lonely to have no kids, no grandkids...

I'm in a similar situation. The only difference is that I'm an only child. I told her if she had wanted grandkids she should have had more kids to
increase her odds. At least your brother might come through.

Dont have that problem. My mom is perfectly fine with my decision to not have children. Like you, Ive known since an early age that I didnt want children and
that hasnt changed, not even at 32.
Problem is, I have a bigger problem meeting men who dont want children. |

I dont know.. having children is natural. Its what we're SUPPOSED to do as animals. Not having it is "strange" to me, too. (I agree with Muah.
Not calling you weird. Just can't grasp it.) Not even the consideration of having kids?

I don't know if I want kids or not. I'm 99% sure I don't want biological children but I'm still undecided about adopting.
It's not strange if women don't want children. All societies pressure women to have children. How do you know that your desire to bear children is actually what YOU want and not what's expected from you? Besides, this planet is so over-populated as is, I can't see why anyone would voluntarily bring another child into this world. |

Im glad Im not the only one having this problem. It definitely sucks though because if they dont already have children, they want them and I too refuse to
waste my time dating someone that doesnt want the same things I want. Its pointless.
What I dont get is why all these damn men want kids but a relationship ends its usually mom that gets stuck with the kids. Should I ever get pregnant (God loves me too much to do that to me) and the relationship ends, the child is going with dad. You wanted them, you take them and I'll be there every other weekend and promise to be prompt with the child support. |

I'm 100% with you on this one! I don't want kids because 1) yeah, I have terrible genes that don't need to be passed on, and 2) I have too much
stuff that I want to do in life-I'm too selfish to have kids, and I know it.
My mom hasn't pressured me horribly because my sister wants kids, but I do think they think I'm strange. And I have YET to find a guy who doesn't want kids. 
I also agree that people are just conditioned to think they need kids. There was this great quote in Scenes of a Sexual Nature (one of the only good parts of the movie) where one of the characters says something to the effect of, "Why do people think it's okay to have kids for their own benefit? Why don't they stop and think if they would be good parents?" I'm butchering the hell out of the quote, but it's something to that effect. |

I've told my mom that I don't know if I want kids and she looked like I kicked a puppy or something.
At this point in my life, I don't like children. They just annoy me to no end. I got my fill working in daycare for 2 years. I don't think there's anything weird about it. Some people are just not meant to have kids. Ask me again in a few years and we'll see what my answer is then. |
