Not renewed but replaced it. Did they allow you to retake your picture or do they just use the photo they have on file? I got my new license but I don't
like the photo and would rather pay to have it retaken. Yes I know it's silly but so be it.. I would rather tell them it's lost. But I heard they
sometimes will use the photo on file if they have it on file?

Every time I've gotten a new one because I lost it (totaling probably a dozen times) they use the same photo. They don't change the photo until
it's time to renew it.

When I replaced mine I had to re-take the picture.

They asked me if I wanted a new picture taken or if I wanted to use the old one.

I swear there are always a thousand different answers to this question lol. My friends and I have had this discussion before...I think it honestly just depends
on what dmv you go to and such.

I'm sure it varies by state but when I replaced a license, I needed to take a new picture.

I think every state is different. They retake the picture here every time. If it's a replacement ours says "Amended" on it. Like mine.. since I
renewed it in '07 and then got married in '08, when I updated my name the new one said "amended" on it. They do the same thing if you lose it
or change your address.

They just used the one on file. I thought I'd have to take a new picture so I got my hair all nice and pretty and I didn't even have to take a picture.
I was upset because I actually spent time on myself for once.

I had to take a new picture. They didn't give me a choice.

When my wallet was stolen and I had to get a new one they gave me the option of keeping the old one or taking a new one. I took a new one and it's the best
picture of me ever! That was in CA 2 years ago... if that makes a difference.

DoesThatSparkle wrote:pretty much. here in jersey, we didn't have digital licences and we HAD to retake the pic every time. now ours is digitalized and they can just use the same pic over and over again. so yeah, i think it just depends on where you are. |
