You weigh 300 lbs and your first goal is to get to 200? You should set smaller, realistic goals.. and use the 200 for your long term goal.

I know you said it won't work for you... but I was also a late night binge eater and knowing mentally in the back of my mind that I was going to weigh myself on a certain day kept me in line. You can do it online and then you don't have anyone 'picking' on you. Just saying, it's basically sort of what you're planning to do but you have something holding you accountable and most importantly, motivating you. |

I have being doing weight watchers. I've lost 40 pounds since Jan 1. It lets you eat whatever you want, within the points. Very easy program. Works well.

FUNNYGRLLISA wrote:my first big goal i meant. My goals are up to ten lbs a month so my first goal "offically" is to get to 290 than 280 and etc. I'd be happy with 250 by the end of this year, which means i dont HAVE to loose up to ten lbs a month. I'm planning once i get down to 200 to lower how much i burn a day but keep my calorie intake the same so i dont keep loosing. |

I also already have someone who is holding me accountable my friend is doing it with me and motivating it with me to where doing journal entries on a blog site back and forth with our calorie intake(food) and excerise for the day. I'm not trying to say i'm just disregarding your advice i just dont think WW is for me, i want something i can do myself and know i can take with me away from that place, i dont want to be apart of it forever; WW that is i know this will be a forever thing. |

You can do WW yourself. I don't go to meetings or pay. I do it on my own.

FUNNYGRLLISA wrote:Now question, how do the points work verses calorie counting? I would think sure the points are good as long as you stay in them with healthy foods, but wouldnt calorie counting be a little easier too because you remember eventually what most standard everyday foods have and can do the calucations in your head. But how does the points differ? Also, I'm happy and congrates that WW worked for you but in a way maybe i'm stubborn. I want this weight loss to be mine, you know thanks to my plan my drive my determination. Not because i went to WW and followed their rules if that make sense.. |

Every food is worth a certain point. Say a bananna is 2 points. It's just easier for me because I remember the main foods I eat, point's value and I
know how many points I get a day. It's very simple and to me is easy. But to each their own.

Sounds like you've put a lot of thought into your plan, missd27, and you want to lose weight in a smart way rather than some dangerous fad diet. I wish
you the best of luck...I think you're going to do really well!

A really good alternative to Weight Watchers is SparkPeople. It's a do it yourself, use it as much as you want website that has great advice and tips and
helps you to calculate the calories you should eat per day based on your weight, the number of calories you burn in a week and your weight loss goal. And
it's free.

I've had a lot of success with this website:

I'm eating 1200 calories a day & have lost 18 lbs so far. I still have a bunch to lose - but am on the right track. |

Would you consider using Alli or those sort of programs? Or is the holistic approach is the one you want to learn? I know alli has helped a lot of my friends.

You sound like you are in the same position I am. I tried Weight Watchers, i've done it twice. the first time i only went for a month or a month and a half
and i lost 10 lbs. I quit once i started a summer musical. i lost 15 more lbs that summer eating what i wanted to eat and dancing/swimming all the calories
off. and i was a lot happier. i lose weight faster and easier when its that sort of situation.
i gained it all back during college and kept gaining until just recently. i've been having work/family/relationship issues that have kept me unmotivated but i've recently started a blog to help me along the way and i'm doing pretty well. one thing that helped was reading a book that is EXACTLY about me. i swear, the author could be me in 15-20 years. If you enjoy reading you should take a look at it. its really inspired me! My Pretty Fat good luck!! |
