It takes two people for a marriage to fall apart. As much as Kate beating down Jon surely had a lot to do with his cheating/acting out and whatnot, he also
"trained" her to talk to him like that. He hasn't stood up for himself in forever. Just sits there and takes it. And so she thinks it's ok.
He clearly doesn't want to do the show anymore and she does, regardless of the cost. And so on. So they're both at fault in a lot of ways - especially
if she also cheated.
That being said, I hope they watched that show and heard what Alexis said to Jon (which broke my heart) and recognized that the twins being more helpful when Jon is gone is another sign of a marriage/family in distress. Older siblings helping their mother with younger siblings is not, no. However, if there is so much anxiety/tension in the house between the parents during a divorce/marital problems, the kids pick up on it and try to make it better in the only way they know how -- which is to be good themselves.
When they kept going on and on about doing everything for their kids, it bothered me. Staying together miserably married is not helping the kids and will inevitably make them more screwed up in the long run than they will already be for being on this show in the first place.
I hope this all makes sense because I'm thinking of it in terms of being a family therapist and not a normal viewer. It made the show so uncomfortable to watch.
