ugh! I moved home from school last week and at school I've had my laptop plugged into a surge protector for the last two years. I had to pack everything
and ship it home so when I got home I didn't have a surge protector. I plugged my computer in to the wall outlet, something I never ever do. and that night
our house gets a power surge. My computer is fucking fried. I took it to the computer repair shop and they said the motherboard is ruined and the AC Adapter is
too. To fix it it's going to be $325 for the motherboard, $89 for the AC Adapter, and $350 for labor (which I think is ridiculous!).
If I want them to just copy over my files its going to be $150. and just for them diagnosing it is $37.50.
So if I have them fix it, it's going to be over $700. When I bought the computer my mom told me to give her the information and she would turn it in to our home insurance company so it would be covered. Well I come to find out that she took the info but she can't remember if she ever turned it in or not.
UGH! and I can't remember how long my warranty is for and can't look up the info b/c it's all packed in boxes en route to my house. If I am still under warranty will they replace the computer for a power surge or is it just if the computer is faulty?
What a bad day.
