i just read this today, somebody else posted a similar thread.
does it have feathers? if so then it's probably just learning how to fly. even though he fell his mom will still check up on him. it he doesn't have feathers, and he looks to be in good shape (no broken wings, legs) then if you can put him back in the nest. his mom will take care of him. if he has a broken leg or wing or something, put him in a cardboard box, put it in a dark-ish, quiet room and call around to see if you have any animal rehab places that will take him. no matter what, even if you don't see her, his mom is still probably close by and she's probably checking in on him. |

That happened all the time where I used to live. When I was little, I would always try to nurse them back to health with bread soaked in milk...and they always
died. I would come home from school, and my mom would say "His mom came and took him back home
"

WTF! I swear, my mom asked a vet what to give baby birds, and that's what they said!

I HATE it when that happens. We used to have these sparrows that had this nest in a corner of the roof of our house (it's not there anymore --- they
stopped inhabiting it probably because it always broke and it was a bad spot) that would always crack or break during odd weather and the little babies would
always fall out. We've found little babies (just like the one you found) on the ground all the time. We always tried to put them somewhere hoping the mom
would come back but she never would. We ended up burying them in our back yard and I'd always cry.
It's so pathetic to see these little things
slowly die and not be able to do anything for them.

If it's not moving at all I'm guessing it's dead.
And just for future reference you should soak kitten food in water until it's mushy and feed it to baby birds. They can digest it and it gives them the nutrients they need. |

it's a kind of rubbery floppy like, I noticed it's leg was a little floppy when getting it in the box...It doesn't look like it's breathing
woul the vet think I was stupid if I dropped off a dead little bird ( I don't know if it is dead but really seems like it)

You don't touch baby animals, well at least baby birds. If you touch them they have your scent and when the mom goes to find it, the mom won't be able
to find it (cuz it'll have your scent) and the baby will die.
At least I was always taught that. |

I don't know about that. Whenever I found a baby bird, I'd leave it alone and check on it in 20 mins. By then the mom (or dad) would come by and swoop
it up.
